“The parking situation was incredibly ridiculous.”
“Did not care about managing the huge traffic nightmare!”
Seeing all the negative review, I had to respond.
I see shows at Cricket several times a year. Great venue! Have done both seating and lawn.
There is only 1 road in/out...however we always go a little early to tailgate anyway and never have any problems. It can take some time getting out, but it is no worse than any other venue when thousands of people try to leave at the same time.
Decent food and beverage choices, not too pricey.
As mentioned above, if you go a bit early, they do allow tailgating, you will have no problems. Take your time after the show and just be patient. For parking, I suggest pay for Premier ($25) or use the 2nd entrance (go up the hill just past the venue), it's much quicker.
WORST VENUE EVER!!! NEGATIVE 5 STARS!!. Went to No Doubt on Sat 8-8-09. Took 1.5 Hrs to get in and 2 Hrs to get out! None of the slacker parking attendants are engaged in trying to help people find a place to park. There is ZERO communication between them , NO PLAN and NO ORDER at all. Saw several attendants standing around talking, and texting. Did not care about managing the huge traffic nightmare! We missed the first 2 bands and barely made it in for ND - we left during the encore (how sad that you have to leave during the show to try to get out ) but we STILL did not get out till 1 am (show ended at 11). Witnessed several groups of young adultsdrinking and getting high in the parking lot (they need something to do to pass the time) - NO COPS OR SECURITY to stop the drinking. These people ended up getting on the road drunk after 2 hours) HUGE LIABILITY CRICKET!! ARE YOU AWARE YOU ARE ENCOURAGING DUI BY NOT ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE?? Sadly this ordeal was a HUGE DOWNER.- We will NEVER come to this venue again. I wonder if Artists know about their bad rep? As an Artist, i would not want my fans to pay $$$ for tix only to have a bad experience due to the venue mismanagement.
what a mess!. I have been to numerous shows at this Amphitheatre when is was managed by Coors and never had a really bad experience even with sold out shows. Since Cricket Wireless took over managing, the experience has been a nightmare. The parking situation is grossly mismanaged. They have people stationed to direct traffic but they do nothing but stand and watch the traffic chaos. We went to the No Doubt show on Aug 8 and it took and hour and a half to get in and the same to get out. I will never buy tickets for this venue again. It just isn't worth it.
The Parking is atrocious.
I saw the Police here as well. The parking situation was incredibly ridiculous. We were trapped for a long time on the freeway, but luckily I could use my nav system to route through a local neighborhood and shave off, easily another hour, trying to get through the lights 5 miles from the venue.
The parking staff were pretty non-existant, and when they were, they were taking bribes from other vehicles to get into the premiere lot lanes. Not only that, they don't seem to be able to afford a simple Sharpie pen and some poster board to make the signs a little bit more numerous and understandable. All in all, the Police were good, but I'd never come to this stupid joint again. I've been to many concert venues across America. this is the worst. Save your money and see the same band no doubt playing also in LA or somewhere else.
No one here cared about planning when choosing the location of this facility, but who cares, the fat cats are getting paid. I would hate to live near here during an event.
19,000-seat outdoor venue in Chula Vista hosts many of San Diego's major concerts and music festivals.
Fifteen minutes south of downtown San Diego, the outdoor theater is open year round for concerts and festivals. Open since 1998, the venue has reserved seating for more than 9,000 and seating for an additional 10,000 on a landscaped lawn, where concert-goers loune on blankets and beach chairs. On-site food vendors offer beer, hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos, and fries. The site is owned and operated by Live Nation.
Worst traffic ever - zero traffic control at venue.
I was also at the Police concert. This was the first and will be the last concert at this venue. The Police were great, but this was the worst concert traffic ever! I spent over 2 1/2 hours in traffic directly associated with the concert getting in and over 1 and 15 minutes in the venue getting out (over 3 hours from my house to the venue and over 1 and 45 minutes return to home). This is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! The traffic staff at the stadium coming in were few, unproffessional and inexperienced. It also appears that this venue lacks the infastructure necessary to accomodate traffic for a sold out crowd - both parking spaces and direct access in and out of the venue - they only use one entrance to the parking lot and that narrowed down to 1 lane to park all the cars. How can you possibly park around 20,000 people using one lane? (Not to mention the limited freeway access to the venue plus no public transportation.)
LiveNation Grade: F
Venue Grade: F
WORST VENUE. One of the worst venues in San Diego. The traffic is always a nightmare getting in and out. Plus, give yourself at least 2 hours to get to the venue for big name artists. Just saw the Police last night and getting in and out was a complete mess ! Will not see any concerts at this venue any longer. You are better off heading up north to LA or Anaheim to see a show...much better organization of traffic and parking issues.
