In Short – Fifteen minutes south of downtown San Diego, the outdoor theater is open year round for concerts and festivals. Open since 1998, the venue has reserved seating for more than 9,000 and seating for an additional 10,000 on a landscaped lawn, where concert-goers loune on blankets and beach chairs. On-site food vendors offer beer, hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos, and fries. The site is owned and operated by Live Nation. –

WORST VENUE EVER!!! NEGATIVE 5 STARS!!

by Dowdys

Went to No Doubt on Sat 8-8-09. Took 1.5 Hrs to get in and 2 Hrs to get out! None of the slacker parking attendants are engaged in trying to help people find a place to park. There is ZERO communication between them , NO PLAN and NO ORDER at all. Saw several attendants standing around talking, and texting. Did not care about managing the huge traffic nightmare! We missed the first 2 bands and barely made it in for ND - we left during the encore (how sad that you have to leave during the show to try to get out ) but we STILL did not get out till 1 am (show ended at 11). Witnessed several groups of young adultsdrinking and getting high in the parking lot (they need something to do to pass the time) - NO COPS OR SECURITY to stop the drinking. These people ended up getting on the road drunk after 2 hours) HUGE LIABILITY CRICKET!! ARE YOU AWARE YOU ARE ENCOURAGING DUI BY NOT ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE?? Sadly this ordeal was a HUGE DOWNER.- We will NEVER come to this venue again. I wonder if Artists know about their bad rep? As an Artist, i would not want my fans to pay $$$ for tix only to have a bad experience due to the venue mismanagement.

  • Pros: Nothing really
  • Cons: TRAFFIC AND PARKING ARE THE WORST!!!!

what a mess!

I have been to numerous shows at this Amphitheatre when is was managed by Coors and never had a really bad experience even with sold out shows. Since Cricket Wireless took over managing, the experience has been a nightmare. The parking situation is grossly mismanaged. They have people stationed to direct traffic but they do nothing but stand and watch the traffic chaos. We went to the No Doubt show on Aug 8 and it took and hour and a half to get in and the same to get out. I will never buy tickets for this venue again. It just isn't worth it.

  • Pros: the actual shows are really good
  • Cons: traffic nightmare

The Parking is atrocious

by kimokat

I saw the Police here as well. The parking situation was incredibly ridiculous. We were trapped for a long time on the freeway, but luckily I could use my nav system to route through a local neighborhood and shave off, easily another hour, trying to get through the lights 5 miles from the venue.

The parking staff were pretty non-existant, and when they were, they were taking bribes from other vehicles to get into the premiere lot lanes. Not only that, they don't seem to be able to afford a simple Sharpie pen and some poster board to make the signs a little bit more numerous and understandable. All in all, the Police were good, but I'd never come to this stupid joint again. I've been to many concert venues across America. this is the worst. Save your money and see the same band no doubt playing also in LA or somewhere else.

No one here cared about planning when choosing the location of this facility, but who cares, the fat cats are getting paid. I would hate to live near here during an event.

  • Pros: we paid for good seats, they were good seats. rarely rains.
  • Cons: parking, rude attendants, parking, dumb california regional "planners"
