Editorial Review for Chicano Park – by Maren Dougherty

In Short
Located off the Cesar Chavez Parkway exit of I-5, the murals of Chicano Park have come to symbolize the Logan Heights community of San Diego. In 1970, the city almost bulldozed the park to create a highway patrol station, but residents protested. Local artists worked together to clean up the area and eventually transformed it into a community park. Today, the gray concrete pillars holding up the highway come to life with bright works of art that represent the vibrant neighborhood.
