Delicioso!.
Are you people that are giving bad reports, crazy? This place is great! I've been coming here since their first location, day one. The bread and the veggie cobb sandwich are delicioso. The staff is always friendly.
And now the parking is great, too.
Definitely visit and you too will be a breadaholic.
All Around Great. I've been a regular for years and it never ceases to amaze me how this small bakery at the end of Point Loma continues to put out the best bread, cinnamon rolls, cookies and sandwiches!! In all my travels, I've never had a better sandwich than the Turkey Cobb. I'm in heaven when it's on the seeded baguette but the Mutli-Grain is good too. The cinnamon rolls are just devine especially when warmed. The staff is friendly and efficient and the atmosphere is just cool. There's jazz on the radio and you can see the baker's at work while you dine. I've told ever one I know about this palce and they're always happy I did! There's no other place like it in town!
Doesn't Really Compete with other Bakeries in Town.
A consultant showed up at my office with a large box of some of the best cookies I've ever had (Butter Toffee Peanut Butter) , so I had to check out the bakery over the weekend. Our order was taken before they told us they didn't accept anything but cash. My husband ran across the street to the ATM and came back to the counter after waiting patiently for other customers to put in their orders only to find out that they had not put in our order until we had paid (come on, we were a well-dressed 30-plus, hungry couple that said we would be back, give us a break!). The roast beef sandwich was delicious and the price was fair, the bread was better than the average chain grocery/bakery, but I couldn't believe they didn't have rye or pumpernickle.
Every once in a while if I'm craving a cookie, or MAYBE a roast beef sandwich, I may venture out to Con Pane again, but I will probably just stick with my favorite bakery in Hillcrest where the people-watching is better, the overall product is better and the service/cleanliness that other reviewers complained about is not a concern.
Terrible service Sanitation problems lack of customer service CRAPPY.
The above description highlights the experience. They are an oligopoly since there are not many choices in Point Loma. As the competitive market ( Panera Bread scheduled for liberty station) widens they will not make it in business. They need some serious attention to their entire process from product to customer service to method of payment. CASH ONLY!!??? I smell horrible bread and prehaps a future audit.
Don't waste your time or money unless disappointment is your thing.
there are MUCH better bakeries who deserve you money.
first offf, con pane doesn't accept credit or debit cards...i mean hello?! aren't we in the 21st century?
they have decent bread...and a pretty good variety. but be preparred to stand in a long (sometimes endless)line and and deal with mediocre service by their workers. in one instance, there was a taller, fat woman who seemed extremely stressed out and crabby when taking orders and (trying to) help customers. jeez...it's just bread.
overall, don't spend your money on horrible customer service and average bread. other bakeries are more worth your time, believe me.
horrible service and a health hazard.
i went to con pane about two weeks ago. i had to wait over 30 minutes for a cup of coffee and a half sandwich. the waiter who brought out my food wasn't even sympathetic or sorry either. their service was so HORRIBLE.
i also think this place is a serious health hazard. the workers there use their bare hands to make the sandwiches and handle the bread...in addition to doing other things like answering the phone and cleaning off tables. DISGUSTING.
don't waste your time going to con pane.
Editorial Review. Popular bakery serves fresh-baked breads, scones, cinnamon rolls and sandwiches to take out or eat at sidewalk tables.
