All Around Great

I've been a regular for years and it never ceases to amaze me how this small bakery at the end of Point Loma continues to put out the best bread, cinnamon rolls, cookies and sandwiches!! In all my travels, I've never had a better sandwich than the Turkey Cobb. I'm in heaven when it's on the seeded baguette but the Mutli-Grain is good too. The cinnamon rolls are just devine especially when warmed. The staff is friendly and efficient and the atmosphere is just cool. There's jazz on the radio and you can see the baker's at work while you dine. I've told ever one I know about this palce and they're always happy I did! There's no other place like it in town!
- Pros: Great food, reasonable prices, interesting food
- Cons: Does not accept credit cards
Doesn't Really Compete with other Bakeries in Town

A consultant showed up at my office with a large box of some of the best cookies I've ever had (Butter Toffee Peanut Butter) , so I had to check out the bakery over the weekend. Our order was taken before they told us they didn't accept anything but cash. My husband ran across the street to the ATM and came back to the counter after waiting patiently for other customers to put in their orders only to find out that they had not put in our order until we had paid (come on, we were a well-dressed 30-plus, hungry couple that said we would be back, give us a break!). The roast beef sandwich was delicious and the price was fair, the bread was better than the average chain grocery/bakery, but I couldn't believe they didn't have rye or pumpernickle.
Every once in a while if I'm craving a cookie, or MAYBE a roast beef sandwich, I may venture out to Con Pane again, but I will probably just stick with my favorite bakery in Hillcrest where the people-watching is better, the overall product is better and the service/cleanliness that other reviewers complained about is not a concern.
- Pros: Great cookies, great roast beef sandwich. Better than average bread.
- Cons: Less than desirable service, un-inspired street corner patio seating/overall ambience.
Terrible service Sanitation problems lack of customer service CRAPPY

The above description highlights the experience. They are an oligopoly since there are not many choices in Point Loma. As the competitive market ( Panera Bread scheduled for liberty station) widens they will not make it in business. They need some serious attention to their entire process from product to customer service to method of payment. CASH ONLY!!??? I smell horrible bread and prehaps a future audit.
Don't waste your time or money unless disappointment is your thing.
