Last Wednesday my wife and I sauntered out to Corporate Helicopters of San Diego which is located at Montgomery Field to partake in the experience of a lifetime. Once there, we were warmly greeted by the office staff who explained in detail exactly what was about to transpire.

Within a couple of minutes, our pilot (Peter) appeared and we were then shuttled out to the helipad where our chopper awaited. Peter then explained the dos and don'ts of safety before boarding the aircraft. Upon boarding and getting strapped in, individual headsets with microphones for communication were given to us; they also muffle the sound of the engine. After a couple of minutes of warming up the engine, running thru a checklist with the control tower, and finally attaining enough rotor speed for takeoff we ascended into the sky. The vibration from the blades is actually less in the air than on the ground. Before we knew it, the aircraft was doing 130 mph and up over 1,000 feet in the sky (which was as clear as a bell) as we headed out towards the coastline of La Jolla, then Pacific Beach. Throughout the flight, Peter pointed out and explained all the highlights of each area as we approached them. In what seemed the blink of an eye the craft was on the way back to its pad.

This adventure is recommended for everyone, and is something we will never forget.

first time in a helicopter was amazing!!. my husband and i went on a helicopter tour today and it was amazing!! even though it is something i have always wanted to do, i was nervous but it turned out to be really easy and smooth. we took the tour of la jolla and up over the beaches. thanks!

Your own person satellite view of San Diego. I had a truly exhilarating experience on a Corporate Helicopters Tour. I went mid April on a bright, beautiful day and got to see my hometown of San Diego from a perspective I never have before. The pilot said just enough to inform me of our where-abouts while still keeping the tour peaceful. He was friendly and thorough and made me feel safe. The tour circled all of San Diego, highlighting landmark buildings. When we took a loop from PB to Mission Beach I even saw a few dolphins. The tour was really exciting and interesting, and even though I went on it convinced I knew San Diego, I guess I never knew it this way. Highly recommend it for visitors of San Diego or for locals, great for a romantic day trip or just an exciting personal experience. I also got some awesome pics of the scenery on my iphone, the helicopter windows aren't reflective at all so they turned out fabulous.
