Mangia! Mangia!. I found this place after recommendation. The staff was very professional and prompt, after being seated I was greeted by the management with a genuine welcome. Although I love italian, I had the special, a larger cut Prime Rib @ 14.99 which was well seasoned and cooked to my liking. If it were any more tender it would have melted through the fork. The lounge was very fun and the entertainment was very entertaining, everyone was having a good time. The atmosphere was energetic and I had a blast. I highly recommend San Giorgio Lucano's for the delicious food, great ambiance, entertainment and great value. I will be bringing more friends, the place exceeded my expectations. Mangia! Mangia!
Food Quality is In the pits. Due to a break in partnership with the management of the restaurant, Chef Emilio is no longer at San Georgios. While his former Sous Chef Mario is at the helm the quality of the food had gone down drastically. Using Chef Emilio's creations, (Bad ju ju in the Restaurant biz), Chef Mario now lacks that ever attentive eye watching over him. And for this reviewer he just does not have the chops. Although people who are not used to eating Chef Emilio's food may find it acceptable, those of us who are (were) regulars notice a big difference. For what was once the only Italian restaurant I would eat at in North County, I find myself once again on that never ended search for an home Italian restaurant, Chef Emilio, Where are you?
Vista is a GREAT FIND for dining!.
The owner and chef also sings to his customers (and yes you can find Karaoke in the seperated bar/ lounge).
The service is outstanding... the dishes FRESH and interesting. The usual Italian menu with many additions that we haven't found in west LA or little Italy.
THIS is a hidden jewel and the locals ALL know of it.
We have been 12 times now and no dish the same once! Outstanding.
Vista is FULL of hidden finds like this... and gets our vote for a hidden jewel itself!
An amazing experience!. A friend in Bonsall recommended this to us and it is the best Italian food we have had - bar none! Simple pastas, chicken or seafood dishes; it's all great. We have been there 3 times now. The waitstaff is very capable and present without being underfoot. The minestroni soup is killer and the garlic rolls would ward off a vampire - they are incredible! Now we try to go here when we visit our kids who live in the area, and they have turned their friends on to it, as well.
Perfection. Wow, shame about the location. Stuck behind a Kragen is an unfortunate situation for this little gem of a restaurant. I?m not even going to say it was SOME OF the best food I?ve ever had, it is THE BEST food I?ve ever had. The head chef, Emilio, always comes out into the dining room to shake hands with guests both regular and new. He?s an extremely engaging man, and is sure to leave you with a smile on your face. The rest of the staff is always helpful and friendly and deliver a fine dining experience without the fine dining pretentiousness. If you haven?t had a chance yet to try this place out, you owe it to yourself to make a visit. It won?t be your last, I assure you.
?The Hottest Ticket in Town!?. It?s rare to find a venue with a gourmet Chef that also sings ballads to the Karaoke crowd in Italian. San Giorgio welcomes guests with a wide variety of authentic Italian Cuisine, featuring fabulous pastas, sea foods and specialties from Chef Emilio, such as Lamb, Veal Valdostano and Osso Bucco. The singing chef, Emilio came to this country from Southern Italy, bringing with him the warmth of the people and the gift of great food. Emilio grew up in a small village atop a mountain in the region between Calabria and Basilicata next to the Gulf of Toranto. The village is called San Giorgio Lucano, from the great legend of Saint George and the dragon. San Giorgio Lucano is surrounded by farms, vineyards and orchards. The air is heady with the scents nature?s bounty. It is here that Emilio first discovered his passion with food. These ancient caves are called la ?grotte?. If Mama Rosa could not find Emilio when he was a child, there was a good chance that he was in the ?grotte? drinking wine and eating the cache of fresh fruits and dried meats. Armed with old world knowledge of food and herbs Emilio traveled to the USA and began his journey to bring a bit of old Italy to America. Emilio?s talents are known from New York?s Little Italy, to Pittsburgh, PA and in Northern San Diego County. I did remember Emilio in Carlsbad, where Emilio was the executive chef and most recently in Encinitas. Now, they are pleased to feature Chef Emilio not only in the kitchen at San Giorgio, but also in the lounge, singing the Theme from The Godfather in Italian. Also there is Karaoke , dancing every Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturday. Old Italian folk, songs, and dancing on Sunday nights. After the best Italian cuisine, with dancing, singing, and just meeting, Chef Emilio, with his Italian singing is a real Italian thing and the "The Hottest Ticket in Town"!!!
