Run Don't buy your Wedding Cake from Han's & Harry!!!!. Approximately one month before our wedding we contacted Hans & Harry about a design we wanted created for our cake. Before we met with them we faxed over a copy of the design and talked to them on the phone. Their response - "Absolutely we can do this cake for you". Great! So we drove down to Bonita, met with Charlotte, showed her again the design, did a tasting and pointed to another cake in their case that was of similar height. While the cake was "ok" Charlotte was pleasant and they were willing to build our cake that was basically a (simple) 3 layer fondant covered cake with tall-elongated layers. Two days before the wedding I called to confirm the time of delivery and (because we were hanging a light over the cake) asked about the height of each layer. After several minutes on hold she came back on the line and said - "The layers will be five inches tall". I immediately thought she must have gotten us mixed up with someone else and said - "there must be a mistake" and reminded her about our design and our meeting. She immediately said - "No, there is no mistake - this is what we are going to make for you". I reminded her again about meeting with her, the design she had in the file and our concern that our cake would not be as designed but only 15" tall. She said, "Well, the baker doesn't want to make your cake". I was floored. It was three days before the wedding and the baker didn't want to bake our agreed upon design? I asked Charlotte - "Is this about money because if it is let me know and I'd see what we could negotiate". She said, "No she had already talked with Hans and the baker and the only thing they would do is refund our money if we were not happy"! (Remember this is THREE DAYS BEFORE THE WEDDING!!!) Dutch Duo, Hans and Harry, continue to pop out scrumptious muffins and elegant cakes from their on-site ovens and well-staffed facility. Bathed in butter yellow and '50s-era accents, the expanded bakery now houses cozy tables and a wedding cake area. The fruit tart and chewy bars fly off the baker's rack and the raisin cinnamon rolls are simple but mouth-watering.
