Since 1962, travelers have enjoyed budget-friendly prices at Motel 6. The national chain (more than 800 locations in the U.S.) accommodates traveling families, as kids stay for free and complimentary coffee is available every morning. The rooms are simple--a TV on the dresser (free HBO and ESPN), data port for computer users and a basic bathroom--but at these prices, who needs a whirlpool?

Surprising value for Motel 6. This one in Oceanside is pretty new, 3 years. it's clean with interior corridors so it feels safer. The manager Denny was fantastic and helpful. I remember Motel 6 being pretty spare and dull but clean, but this one felt bright and nicer all around. I think Motel 6 did major design overhaul in last few years. I was pleasantly surprised at the value for the room. this one also has outdoor pool and whirlpool. there aren't frigs in motel 6, but this one had a large micro in the lobby for use. They also had free wifi!
