Best Filipino Food in San Diego
by SalsaGirlCatering at Citysearch
I've been going to Tita's for about 12 years and I love it. Although not the most elegant restaurant, the food speaks for itself. I usually take my food to go and enjoy it at home. My favorite is the Pancit and the BBQ Chicken Kabobs, but everything else is good too. Whenever I'm craving Filipino food I take the drive over to Titas Kitchen, it's well worth the drive.
- Pros: Great food at great prices
- Cons: Hard to find parking, long line at dinner time (weekdays)
Quint-essential Filipino
by jalu3 at Citysearch
Although not exactly the most presentable restaurant in the neighborhood, it is by far, some of the best Filipino food offered on Plaza Boulevard.
Located on the corner of an overcrowded strip mall, with a less then inviting parking area, is a cornerstone of the Filipino Community in South San Diego. The service comes in the form of a lunch line afair, with the multiple dishes of the day arranged over hot water heaters. But don't worry the food is more often then not, very fresh, due to its high turn over. Although the "Ano Ba" (translated to "What do you want") can make an outsider wary of the service, don't let that stop you. The food has far more flavor then other locations, and is served in very large portions. Combination plates cost less then $6, which contain two meat items, and two large scoops of rice. On Saturdays they also serve Lechon, which is Filipino pulled pork.
- Pros: High Quality Food, Large portions
- Cons: Small seating, Rushed Service, Crowded
