Tips for Prospect Bar & Lounge

HORRIFIC! AND YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO BE IN THE PLACE!. This place needs to be stopped.

It seems like every day they pile their balcony with enough amps for a KISS concert and put on the most ridiculously bad singers of ALL TIME. I would be astounded if these people are actual furnished monetary compensation for their off-key butcherings of Stairway to Heaven. and similarly cliche songs. If I hear that girl sing Foo Fighters or Jewel one more time, I'm going to snap, not to mentiont he frizzy-head degenerate and his Star Search try-out bellowing of current hits. It is APPALLING. Not only is the singing bad, but the vocal is a completely disproportionate volume to any accompaniment (i.e. childish acoustic string scratching).

Try to be a little considerate of other businesses and put those kids back on open mic at a dingy coffee house where they belong.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Never going back to Prospect Bar & Lounge. This restaurant/lounge/bar/nightclub is situated in downtown La Jolla. It has a stunning view and kind of a nice layout...but that's where all the good stuff ends.

First off, they need to pick what kind of place they want to be. Either be a great club, or restaurant, or whatever it's trying to be. The problem is that it doesn't do any of the following correctly.

The "dance floor" is just pitiful. You can literally fit 25 people (when they're rubbing elbows with each other) on this place. It has corny flat screens everywhere and it just feels like it's trying too hard to be nightclub, when it's not.

Now let's talk about this "restaurant" and service that comes with it. There is about enough room to sit about 25-30 people yet for some odd reason they can't get anything right. We sat down and had 1 menu for a group of 6 of us. Our waiter quickly said hi to us and didn't come back for another 20 minutes. Once he came back he took our drink orders, and then the real waiting began. 15 minutes to receive 3 beers, 2 glasses of wine, and a Mojito know wine is better with age, but give me a break! Then we waited again for another 30 minutes before he took our food orders. Then we waited ANOTHER 40 minutes or so to receive our food. Keep in mind, this is not intricate flashy food. This is regular sandwiches and burgers that you could pretty much get at any fast food joint in 3 minutes. We choked down our food and then proceeded to WAIT for our bill...about 20 minutes. We get the bill and we notice that they didn't give us the happy hour rates for the alcohol. When we asked the waiter he said that we ordered it after 8:30pm...NO KIDDING NUMBNUTS, YOU DIDN'T HELP US FOR 20 FREAKING MINUTES WHEN WE GOT THERE!!! Long story short, it took 50 minutes (I kid you not) to get the bill straightened out.

So 3 hours later Prospect Bar & Lounge now has another customer that will never go back. This place is ridiculous and tries to be to many things, and fails at every single one. You couldn't pay me to come back to this place.

dishonest happy hour pricing. do not go to this restaurant for happy hour period. 2 for 1 means you buy mutiple rounds of drinks and when you ask for your tab, they'll decide which drinks are free (not really two for one rounds, just cheapest drink always is always comped...example: first round ordered 2 identical beers, second round ordered identical wines, comped for beers because they were the least expensive, paid for both glasses of wine). appetizers are 2 for 1, but if you order an odd number, they will not ask you if you'd like to decide on another since it would be free, they'll just charge you for it and then tell you its too late to change the order. the owner explained that they can't change the pricing in the computer and that 'this is the best deal in la jolla'. mediocre food, 30% higher happy hour tab than expected, and owner does not care about treating customers fairly. diners beware, not an honest business practice and owner becomes disrepected easily when you call him out for taking your hard earned money.

WORST place to go in La Jolla Village. I've been to this bar about 6 times and every time has been so bad that i finally decided to write a review on it. i don't understand how a bar that is almost never busy can make you wait so long to get a freaking drink. even after you get a drink you still have to wait 10 more minutes to get your bill.

the bar is in a cool location but management must not know too much about the industry because they're doing something wrong. i also know multiple women who have said the owner, a guy named brannon, is classless, which i believe but i don't know first hand - that's just what i hear.

if you're on prospect, go next door to sushi on the rock II for sure - don't waste your time and money at prospect bar

Upscale La Jolla lounge splits the bill between sports fans and foodies.. In Short
Boasting floor-to-ceiling windows with stunning waterfront vistas, this swanky lounge updates classic sports bar elements like flat screens and good burgers with sleek, modern furniture and lighter menu items made with local seafood. With top DJs making regular appearances, the outdoor patio is packed with partiers after dark and then again for brunch on weekends.
