In Short – The restaurant claims Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese and Italian influences for its varied and whimsical menu. Inside the large, open dining area, local families and groups of college students share deep bowls of stir-fried noodles, spicy curries and spaghetti with veggie meatballs. Some items might be called "chicken" or "shrimp" but that always refers to meat substitutes. Yes, mock shrimp exists and Sipz fans swear it's amazing. –
they lie to vegans. boycott in effect
by genevievezz
i'm vegan
i heard a rumor a while ago that the soy chicken at sipz restaurant was not vegan, and that they refuse to let anybody read the ingredients list stating its thrown away or something
i just decided to call and try to get an ingredients list, and managed to speak to a new person who read me the ingredients list for the vegan chicken she read 'separated albumin' it has egg derivatives in it
I'm really upset that they'd hidden the soy chicken ingredients from customers for years, and that they fed me egg when i ordered a vegan dish. while i was on the phone with the really nice girl i heard one of the owners snap at her for reading ingredients over the phone.
feeding vegans non vegan food puts them in violation of the food safety act of 1990 and the trade descriptions act of 1968 which states that information given about food must not falsely describe the food.
- Pros: tasty food
- Cons: they lied about the soy chicken. its not vegan.
Hot tipz, try sipz

Sipz is rad. Even though its' name is spelled with a "z," which originally irritated me, the delicious food lives up to its reputation in San Diego. It is hands-down date night for vegans and vegetarians, and everyone else can still marvel at the drumsticks for the first time, every time.
Best Vegan/Vegetarian restaurant in San Diego!

We go to Sipz every week! My friends and I are Vegan and we love this place. The casual fun atmosphere and the amazing Orange "Chicken". We also had their Vegan Cheesecake with Raspberry. It was better than the cheese cake I remembered. Highly reccommend our favorites; Orange "chicken", Spicy Basil with Tofu, Drumsticks, and all their desserts. The fun thing is we also run into someone we know whenever we eat there! Their Vegan Caterpillar Sushi Rolls are to die for too! Also, their food court one is fun too.
- Pros: Lots of choices, plenty of parking, quick service
- Cons: some time the food comes out too fast, slow down. :)
