Do not recommend this place at all..... Unfortunately, I had the worst experience with this place. I made an appointment 10 days ahead and had to change my work schedule for that appointment. When I was there on time and asked for Vickie, she said she never made that appointment and does not know anything about it. Instead of apology for wasting my time, she said mistakes happens! When I told her about how I had to change my whole schedule and I am coming from work, she asked me to leave. She was very disrespectful and I was shocked. I never had this type of experience with anyone!

I do not recommend this place at all.

What??? Is this the SAME SALON???. I am absolutely surprised that I am reading this review! I have been going to Vickie Lavanty’s salon for 18 years now and have never run into any experience even remotely like the one you are describing. Are you sure you’re speaking about the same salon? Vickie and her staff are friendly, respectful and professional. Vickie has been cutting, styling and coloring hair for over 30 years and is excellent at her craft. As her staff are experienced, licensed hair stylists, they, too, know exactly what they are doing. I can only speculate that when you provided a picture to your stylist, she discussed what she thought would be most appropriate for your lifestyle and facial shape, and moved forward with the cut. I find it hard to believe that she ignored your request and gave you something you weren’t expecting. Nice to read that you had it “fixed” but I have to say, I have never, nor have I heard from any of the many others I have referred to Vickie’s salon, heard of such a bizarre experience. I will continue to recommend Vickie Lavanty Salon to anyone who is looking for a professional cut, style or color.

RUN AWAY FROM THIS SALON!. I waited 3 months to post this review because I don't normally do things like this. This was the worst hair experience I have had...ever...in my life. I asked for a very specific haircut, which I had a picture of, which I had, had before..I walked out with a haircut that an experienced stylist was literally puzzled by. I scheduled an appointment with the owner of Vickie Lavanty hair salon (her assistant cut it first) and was notified via voicemail that there was really nothing Vickie could do for me. Luckily a truly caring stylist in La Jolla phased out the drastic step in the back and worked to make my hair look decent. It has been 3 months and I am still trying to slowly fix this horrible hair cut. I have never left a hair salon in tears. I was devastated. I somehow felt I was in the wrong. I just don't want anyone making the same mistake. Go down the street there are plenty of great places with experienced, nice people.

Highly Recommend!. Vickie has been cutting my hair for years. She has very reasonable prices and she's great with kids (she cuts my 5 year old daughter's and 7 year old son's hair as well). Vicky has trained with the best, and now trains others. I've never had a complaint with her service.
