In Short
The track, which opened in 1937, is rich with history--home of the famous Seabiscuit-Ligaroti race, and playground for old-Hollywood's elite--and scenic beauty. The classic, Spanish-style architecture is surrounded by well-manicured lawns and vibrant flowers. Seating options range from budget grandstand seats to luxury skyboxes. In addition to usual concessions, the Clubhouse Terrace Restaurant offers track-side dining, with high-end lunch fixings. Large groups and families opt for the infield, with pack-in picnics and a casual party atmosphere.

I used to like this race track a lot and I'd go to the offtrack betting when there wasn't live racing going on. They charge to go into the off track betting facility, which other places do not, and sometimes, when another event is going on, there isn't enough parking for the race track people. Also, some of the employees are really rude and not service oriented.

This is the best race track that I've been to.. It's in a gorgeous location, right by the ocean, where you get that cool ocean breeze. I love going to this race track when the live racing is going on. The atmosphere is exciting. Besides all the horses to watch, seeing all the unique people is fun too. It's a real party atmosphere. Fridays are fun too when they have a live band for a concert after the races are over.

OK, I know that this is a small part of what they do at the race track, but in my opinion it is the best. On Fridays throughout the summer, Del Mar race track offers live concerts with EXCELLENT bands after the races. Price? General admission to the track this year is $8. Obviously, they also have horse races from July to September, and other events throughout the year. However, as a huge music fan, it is really exciting to see some of my favorite bands in an outdoor venue for $8 a ticket.
