24-hour diner tucked away in Kearny Mesa serves a bustling lunch-hour crowd by day and hungry night-crawlers after hours.

It's technically located on Stu Segall's production lot, but the diner is open to the public.

Overrated and Lacking Flavor

by monstermolly at Citysearch

This place is overrated. I was so excited to try it and was so disappointed when I walked out.

The food was bland, greasy and overpriced. It was cheap and I was still disappointed that I wasted money.

If you want good food from an old fashioned diner, go to Ruby's Diner. Learn from my mistake, pass this one up.

  • Pros: Fun Vintage Ambience
  • Cons: Menu Items were greasy and lacking flavor

Outstanding Diner

by rockabillyboy72 at Citysearch

I have driven past this place for a the last few years in the day time while working. One night my wife and I saw it on Diners Drive in's and Dives. We took the family to give it a try. I ordered the fish and chips. Outstanding!!! very large , and well cooked. My wife had the club sandwich and kids all ate breakfast. Everyone left full and happy. I find that all diner food in southern California has become over priced. For a family of four expect to drop $50.00. But also expect to leave very full and happy.

Average Breakfast;

by jomarkumar423 at Citysearch

After seeing this place reviewed on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives," my wife and I thought we'd go check this place out. I'm a huge breakfast fan, and the idea of a place that serves breakfast 24/7 is always appealing to me. Parking was kind of strange, as they had a small lot, with most cars parked on the street, though it didn't seem to be difficult to find a spot. We got in and were seated in about 10 minutes. They had immediate seating at the counter available, but we opted to wait for a table. Looking over the menu, they seemed to have a pretty eclectic mix of food. The sandwiches and some of the seafood looked good, but I was craving breakfast. I ordered the country fried steak and eggs, and my wife ordered the crab cakes benedict. When we received our food (after a bit of a wait), we were not that impressed. Certainly not bad food, but then again nothing to write home about. The portions were a decent size, but for the price, I probably could have gone some where closer to my house for a better deal. My wife and I pondered if we had gotten some of their "specialties" would we have felt different. We may never know. Overall, I would say if you're not in the area, or it's not 3am, you would probably be better served going some where else.

  • Pros: 24 hours!
  • Cons: Pretty average food, strange parking

Not up to expectations, go to Bob's Big Boy

by redqatest at Citysearch

Went on a rainy Sat. night and was really looking forward to a 40's / 50's diner experience. Service was very slow. Food was mediocre at best, and way overpriced for what I had. Hot fudge cake was overcooked (in microwave). Save your $ and have a much better experience. Go to Bob's Big Boy.
