Pearl Restaurant Review. I just had a terrible experience at The Pearl Restaurant at Rancho Bernardo. I reserved the place for a party of 50 guests and made it clear on the phone that our area shall be enclosed with a room divider for privacy. They agreed about my request. They called us back and said "yes" to our request and at the same time the manager suggested if we would like the patio area (now I know why he was suggesting that later in the story). I said "no" to the patio area suggestion. The date of the party came and me and my wife were surprised that the area was not enclosed and we were among with other guests of the restaurant. We immediately complained to the Manager and all the manager said was "you didn't put it in writing" and we can give you a $60.00 dollar discount. I decided to use Pearl for this party because last time I had a similar party and they have enclosed the area for us and there wasn't a written contract when that party was reserved. The only difference between last years party and this years party was that this years party was done on a busy Saturday. The manager kept saying it must be a miscommunication, your party is really small and we can't enclosed it for you, etc etc. All kinds of excuses. I told the manager that all I needed to know was for them to tell us in advance if they can't deliver on my request of having an enclosed room and I will be fine with that and I would make a decision to do it some where else. I just wanted them to be honest. But they wanted to make money off of me and at the same time surprised me at the last minute. I can't back out at the last minute when you havet 50 hungry guests behind you. In summary, if you are crazy enough to do any party at the Pearl Restaurant after reading this review, make sure you have it in writing because the manager is very unethical.
