Don't be swayed by the simple awning and humble entrance. Alex Thao runs an award-winning restaurant, renowned for top-notch ingredients and knowledgable service. The redesigned dining room contains just a handful of booths, small tables, and a hip bar scene. The menu is well organized into noodle, meat and curry dished and specialties abound, like the mot-to-be-missed Celadon Shrimp. Most are on the spicy side, but servers are happy to help customize the right level of heat.

Know Before You GoCeladon is another of Alex Thao's family restaurants (he also owns and manages Rama and Chow), and it used to be located up on University, where Chow Noodle House currently resides.

Go here before it closes. A great San Diego spot up between Bankers Hill and Hillcrest. Uses seasonal ingredients in their food and does a great job of it. I recommend the tasting menu and ask your waiter to pair it with wines for a true experience.
