Editorial Review for Cafe Chloe – by Erin Chambers
The Scene
Classic French bistro enlivens the corner of Ninth Street and G Street just north of Petco Park with all the looks and smells of an upscale sidewalk cafe in Paris. Small round tables line the rod iron fence on either side of the corner entrance. Inside, colorful French prints hang in the smallish dining room, anchored by a half-circle bar hiding brass coffee machines and wine bottles.
The Food
Breakfast and brunch offer gourmet teas with a tiered tray of all the accoutrements fit for any ladies' lunch or book club chat. Rotating cheese selections are well-paired with seasoned crostinis and assorted tapenades--the perfect end to a perfectly prepared French feast of steak frites or herbed chicken with macaroni and pancetta gratin. European proportions mean there is always room for dessert--a good thing considering the homemade ice cream and bread pudding are not to be missed.

What to DrinkMimosas. Pomegranate mimosas. And not just on Sundays.
On the MenuThese frites are truly French, served in a wrapped-paper cone with just a touch of salt.
Know Before You GoMany new downtown bistros, including this one, are starting to replace the old stalwarts as hot spots for power lunching among Downtown's heavy-hitting politicos.

Love the food, the ambiance is very chic and haven't found another local cafe that serves my favorite Illy espresso! Forget Starbucks- so overrated. You need to try Cafe Chloe. This is a true cafe and local treat. Only downfall is that although the staff is very nice, they are very slooow and my server stood and chatted with another server for several minutes while holding my latte as I watched it get cold. When my food arrived, I ate it with my latte spoon as my server was once again chatting it up with another server instead of bringing me silverware and napkin. The brie omlette more than made up for it and he apologized so all is good and I will definately be back.
