In Short – With up-lit palm trees and poolside cabanas, this tropical rooftop lounge anchors the Gaslamp's Hotel Solamar. The outdoor patio is dotted with cocktail tables and thatched-roof heaters, but most well-heeled patrons pack into half-circle booths with fire pits and views of Petco Park and the harbor. A cocktail roster of tropical favorites complements the bar menu of small plates like Kobe beef skewers and assorted quesadillas.
nice chill factor

Love the beach/pool cabana style at night - the fire pits and heat lamps keep it from being unbearable on San Diego cool nights. The staff and clientele were friendlier than at most swankier than thou joints too.
- Pros: ambiance and good music
- Cons: weather permitting
Falling behind!!
by eastvillage08
This bar in my opinion has passed it prime but could be revived with some simple fixes! As an east village resident I have visited J-Bar many many times ... but I have finally drawn a line in the sand. The bar has and only has 2 bar tenders for the WHOLE place. This means a generous wait time for each customer when you go to the bar staffing a third (or even 4th) bartender is a lesson they should have learned months ago. There is also a cocktail waitress (sometimes 2) but they keep busy and are somewhat elusive.
- Pros: Open Air, location
- Cons: Consistently bad service
Pizza

Be conversational: Write it as if relaying your experience to a good friend.
Be specific: Generalities like "lazy service" or "tasty pizza" leave people wanting more detail.
Be yourself: If you're an expert on burgers, let us know. If this is your first-time massage, say so.
Compare apples to apples: Burger joints shouldn't be held to the same standards as four-star restaurants.
- Pros: sdfs
- Cons: sdfsdfsf
The Details on Lounge Six
Know Before You Go:
Hip still means hard-to-find in the Gaslamp. JBar is unmarked on the outside of the hotel. Enter the main lobby and take the elevator on the left up to the 4th floor.
Parking:
Skip the pricey valet and the on-street spots in surrounding alleys. Pull in to the well-lit Park It On Market garage just two blocks north for a secure space at just $7 for the night.
When to Go:
Proximity to Petco Park means long lines when the Padres are in town. Arrive well before 10pm on game days.
