In Short – A grand staircase from the hotel lobby--which morphs into a chic lounge after dark--leads up to an outdoor oasis on the 4th floor roof. With warm, white sand underfoot, well-groomed groups dressed casually hip in designer jeans and shirts sip chardonnay and martinis while gossiping near the fire pit or lounging in large white cabanas. Light techno music gets louder and funkier as the night wears on. –

Unique venue that lives up to its name

The W is a beautiful hotel and the aptly named Beach is a venue that's definitely worth checking out. The sand floor and cabana-style tables give this place a great vibe, but the sand isn't for everyone (girls wearing expensive heels, beware). Nevertheless, the W actually supports a good number of worthy fundraisers in the local community, even more reason to check this place out.

Really unique and different spot that is one of a kind in San Diego. And if it's not great weather you can still enjoy the Living Room downstairs.

When to Go:
A line starts forming around 10:30pm on weekends, so get there earlier if you don't want to wait.
Parking:
Around $8 after the W's partial validation. And since it's a good 10 blocks (or $5 pedi-cab ride) outside the heart of the Gaslamp scene, so many downtown lots are too far to walk.
Look Good:
There is no cover, but a strict dress code is enforced---no sneakers or flip-flops.
