In Short – Instrumental music and fresh incense greet visitors as they cross brown, concrete floors to a chocolate leather couch in the sage-colored waiting room. Beyond the heavy wooden doors, locals and guests of the nearby W Hotel relax in tan chenille robes, drinking tea from nearby Extraordinary Desserts or beer and wine. Six treatment rooms offer body and skin treatments, including the popular massages, which can be modified to include reflexology, pregnancy and other specialties.
Not your typical spa experience

I regulary go for facials (one a month) and after receiving a gift card to Spa Velia I thought I would try it out. The facilities were nice although a little tight and contained for me. I love spa's that have the open air about them and while it was somewhat relaxing, Spa Velia was a little too crammed for my style.
I made an appointment for what I thought was a normal facial. It started out fine. Washing, extractions etc. After that, my therapist informed me she was going to put a mask on my face and informed me it may tingle. Um...it did everything but that! It BURNED!!! It burned to a point that I felt like my skin was falling off. I told her it was burning and she started fanning my face with her hands????
I am in my mid-20s and have always taken good care of my skin, so there wasn't a reason for something to hurt so much. I should have gone with my first instinct and booked a massage!!!

I was experiencing a few problems with my skin. The cohabitation of pimples and wrinkles was extremely frustrating. The estheticians at Spa Velia were very professional and gave me sound advice and guidance. After just two facials my skin is showing great progress. No more breakouts and my laugh lines are less pronounced.
I can't comment on any other service as I haven't had any.
- Pros: Ambience, superior service, attentive professional
- Cons: services are expensive
