The Spot - A Sports Bar And Restaurant.
San Diego is a beautiful place and the city provides many romantic places that will definitely ignite a spark between you and your mate. Whether, it your anniversary or just a fun festival to attend in San Diego, you most definitely will have a memorable time in America’s Finest City. Being 50, I finally have got the opportunity to visit this lovely city and was spellbound. I heard from many about, “The Spot” and without taking anytime I stopped in.
This establishment has an elegant look and is one of the main entertainment zones for people of all ages in La Jolla. There were large television screens in every corner of this sports bar and people were enjoying watching rugby. Wow! Rugby is one of my favorite sports. The Spot is both a bar and restaurant that is divided by a partition so you can enjoy both worlds. I ordered some appetizers and glass of their house red wine.
One of the best things that I noticed about this sports bar was the wonderful service that is offered to every customer. The Spot has a very large wine list, too and menu that is hearty. Whether you’re flying solo or with that special someone, The Spot is the place to be!

In recent years Sir Walter installed several Plasma/LCD televisions in his restaurants for his patron’s enjoyment. He envisioned an advertising apparatus expanding the footprint of his televisions to promote special offers and notifications. And so the WAFFiL was born (www.waffil.cm). Sir Waffil has submitted multiple patents for his advertising apparatus and mobile technology under his company ScreenWorks Media. According to him, his mantra of Wireless-Ad-Frame-For-Interactive-Loyalty (WAFFiL) is a household name.
Don't go here unless you enjoy rude service!. I would avoid this place if you can. I have been there a few times thinking that maybe i just caught the staff on a bad day...but I realized that they are just rude. I would especially avoid this place if the night manager is working. I have seen her in action more than once and I almost left based on how she treated other patrons. With the exception of a friendly bartender this place is not worth the time or money for the overpriced and flavorless food it serves. I also question the cleanliness of the place...if you step in there you will see why. Avoid this place, but if you do decide to go and your server ends up being Nancy...good luck...
Rude without a cause.
A recent experience at this establishment merits a mention here as it involves extremely rude behavior by the ?owner?.
Our party of 3 had just ordered our dinner, when a young man poked his head in our booth and said loudly and sardonically, ?Thanks for stealing our menu covers.? He disappeared, before we could react. I asked our waiter, a very pleasant young man, who that person was. He said embarrassed, ?The owner.?
To make a long story short, ?The owner? accused us of theft, refused to address the issue, refused to identify himself, and remained extremely unpleasant and impolite. I should mention that our party included me, a business exec in my forties, a guest ? she is a business exec from Europe, and my father who at 81 is a retired physician and a long term resident of La Jolla.
While this incident might be explained as the frustrated reaction of a tired and overwhelmed restaurateur to the day?s events, insulting customers are never acceptable service. La Jolla has a lot of great places to eat, avoid this one.
Tourists and locals alike flock to this easygoing mainstay for basic American fare with some upscale twists..
In Short
Though this restaurant is within spitting distance of several ritzy hotels, it manages to maintain a laid-back charm. Witness the painting of an old, pot-bellied surfer just inside the door. The restaurant is divided into a narrow bar area on the left and a dining room on the right; both have wood paneling and brown leather booths. The menu ranges from burgers and grilled snapper tacos to lobster tails and bacon-wrapped filet mignon.
