What People Are Saying About The Beachcomber
Featured Review

In Short – There's pool in the back and seating on the right, but it's the dance floor up front that defines this beachside hangout. It gets mobbed after midnight with college kids and surfer dudes, the most adept of which make slipping on the sandy wooden floor look like the latest dance craze. Likewise, with a seat by the bar and a house special Lynchburg Lemonade, it's hard not to enjoy watching the revelers do their thing. – – –
Editor's Tips
- Parking:
- Unlike other area bars, taxi drivers know the place well, as most everyone who leaves after midnight cabs it home. Walking at night in South Mission, even to nearby PB parking lots, isn't done.
- Know Before You Go:
- Once in a blue moon "the comber" seems more like a USD hot spot than a beachside dive. If you see a line out front, inside is likely a sorority soiree.
- Look Good:
- It's beachwear all the way. Flip-flops, board shorts, t-shirts.

The best! What I can remember!!
by PB Toad at Citysearch
Born and raised in MB/PB.....too many stories ...too many babes and bro's to mention. I'm almost 60 and I know I spent my 20's there everyday...then kids.....I always remember going there, I don't remember leaving...sometimes I wake up and I think I'm at the "COMBER" still. And I still pop in theer a bit..great tunes!!!...I'm afraid I may never come out!!! Good days when the OTL was at "the Jetty"..........Toads live on!!!!

Been there forever. In the 60;s during Vietnam war, it was a great handout for Marines, DI's, newly formed SEAL team at Coronado, Over-the-line group, jocks and some SD Chargers. As a Marine Capt.at Camp Pendleton, it was a home. Will never forget it.
Cheap and Strong
by NightTimeVIP at Citysearch
Great dive bar by the beach. Cheap drinks, chill sometimes older crowd during the day and active college crowd at night.
Djs and dancing at night. Top 40 music to get you moving and drinking faster.
The Penant Bar is right next door, along with late night Mexican food. What more do you need from a beach bar?
- Pros: Free fresh Pop-corn
Greatest Dive Bar!!!!!!!
by diddybop at Citysearch
So much fun! The locals are lifers and the beach community is second to none. If you want to hear some stories especially of days long past, this is the best bar. I mean OTL and OMBAC headquarters, plus rugby players on a Sat. night! Can it get any better? The parking is horrifying, but if you park north near the roller coaster and walk a few blocks south toward the jetty, you can enjoy the neighborhood.
- Pros: great bartenders and drinks
- Cons: no food, though bring some in
Mission Beach's Cheers
by choutlaw at Citysearch
The Beach Comber is truly the beach's version of Cheers. The manager and bartenders treat the locals like kings, and there is something there for all ages. Always a great time!
- Pros: Great people, and they have their own song
- Cons: When the tourists show up.
