Cajun/Creole West of the Panhandle. Bear with me...I have a rule of thumb that I follow with Mexican food in that I never order it East of the Mississippi and North of San Francisco. I used to follow a similar rule with Cajun/Creole cuisine in that I never order it West of the Panhandle or North of the Mason/Dixon Line. Well, rules are meant to be broken and that's what happened here. NEW ORLEANS CREOLE CAFE has just pushed the envelope to the West Coast. Warning! Don't eat here unless you plan to go to New Orleans. This restaurant is the proverbial "taste of honey" and you know what they say about honey....a taste is worse than none-at-all.

INSANELY DELICIOUS CREOLE CUISINE!. This is the real deal folks.........insanely delicious creole food! The shrimp creole salad was so delicious, a must-have starter. I ordered 10 entrees to-go & everything was ready & steaming hot when I arrived as promised. Everything was fabulous. The crawfish etouffee was so creamy & delicious. The shrimp creole was perfectly seasoned. The jambalaya was incredible! My favorite was the red beans w/andouille sausage. The sausage was spicy & delicious & the beans were so creamy & tasty.

Whatever you do, don't leave without a serving of the bread pudding. Yum! This is good stuff & is served with a sweet & delicious whiskey sauce.

Editorial Review by Amanda Knoles. Authentic Creole cuisine served in a recreated 1850s-style dining room on the patio overlooking historic Whaley House gardens.

Yummmmmm!. As a displaced New Orleanian who travels a lot, I am always on the lookout for New Orleans food. On a recent trip tp San Diego I looked up "New Orleans Restaurants" on City Search and thought I would give this one a try. This restaurant made me soooo homesick. The food was incredible. The crawfish ettoufee was even better than mine! The chicken and sausage gumbo had me almost licking the bowl when I ran out of the yummy french bread. And DO NOT pass up the bread pudding.

I chatted with the charming co-owners of the restaurant, Mark & Humberto. Mark who plans the menu and helps his chef with the cooking is a native New Orleanian, and it shows in their menu. The restaurant has an indoor dining room, and an outside courtyard-like dining area that is reminiscent of a French Quarter court yard.

If you are ever in San Diego, or especially if you live there, treat your taste buds to this restaurant.
