Local hunk and ex-Bachelor Andrew Firestone's name gets thrown around often as a major investor in this Gaslamp haunt, even though his face is rarely seen in the dining room. It makes no matter to downtown hipsters who come in droves to be seen at the stylish urban loft eatery complete with exposed brick walls and DJ booth upstairs. Red and blue hued lighting contrast with minimal white furnishings and industrial steel accents. International tapas characterizes a menu of interesting small plates meant to be shared. Starters like soft pretzels with mustard seeds and jumbo sea scallop Adobo are…

Awesome way to start GNO!

by CatDV at Citysearch

We went here on a recommendation to start out a Girls Night Out. When we got there for our 7pm reservation, we found out it was happy hour until 8 and that meant 1/2 price EVERYTHING... drinks, food and WINE menu! We knew it was tapas so we ordered a bunch of plates to share but no one told us that these are fairly good size portions for "tapas" and we were totally stuffed before we got to dessert. : ( We left a lot of food on the table un eaten but only because we were full... the food was awesome. When the bill came it was $45 each for 5 of us to have way too much food and 3 bottles of good wine. I will say we might have made slightly different menu choices if it weren't 1/2 price... but we prolly could have done with about 1/2 the food we ordered. Oh and they were totally accomodating for a couple vegetarian requests also.

  • Pros: Happy Hour
  • Cons: Low table height

Great food, and service!

by bozley at Citysearch

I finally made it out to Confidential since I had been hearing so much about it and its happy hour. Everything I heard was spot on! They have wonderful food and the staff is very nice and always make sure you are comfortable. The place was smaller than I had imagined, would have been nice to have some more room since it can feel a little cramped, but it's not really a big deal cause you forget how little it is when you are there. I would def recommend this place and can't wait to go back!

  • Pros: food, wait staff
  • Cons: small place, parking

great service!

by katiepatie at Citysearch

my sister and i went to confidential a few weeks ago off a tip from the concierge at our hotel. let me just say it was great!!! the food was fabulous, you have to try the ahi and scallops. we only had a quick bite, stayed mostly for drinks and dancing, but it's definitely a menu worth exploring (being tapas and all). the atmosphere was very fun, kind of LAish, and the DJ was really great--he played everything from hip hop to house to rock. all of this was great, but the best part was the service!! Our server Cathrine was really fun. it was pretty dead when we got there and she hung out and chatted with us, giving us recommendations for the rest of our trip, talking about the cute boys that worked there and ALWAYS making sure we had a full drink. the security guards were nice when they moved us to a new table (they get rid of the middle tables for dancing) and when we got drinks at the bar, the bartenders were great. one of them juggles and he's fun to watch. the end of the night was a bit of a blur but i remember being shocked when our server opened the door for us as we left and remembered our names!! it was a wonderful experience and i recommend confidential to everyone.

pros- service, food, cute boys

cons- expensive drinks
