Ok...Not WorthThe Cover Unless Special Occasion and Partying It Up In VIP. I've been to a few clubs downtown. And everywhere else. In my opinion, $20 cover is ridiculous...way too packed,no room to dance...ambience was good, the entertainment was good. we were there when a drummer was doing his interpretation of hip hop...it was entertaining. tri-level was cool. They also have VIP area overlooking dance floor. So, if you plan on going VIP this is a good place...you'd have your own dance floor and you could watch everyone else in the "mosh pit" :)
Special Request. This is a great place to hang out with friends and meet new friends. The drinks were nicely poured but I do wish that they carried Le Tourment absinthe. It's good either straight up or mixed, they need get some now!
What if there was a fire?. This place is nice, but once they start letting people in they jam pack the place. I've gone twice and had a girl step on my foot because there is no room on the dance floor. The second time my cousin almost got into a fight with a guy because he was trying to create more room to dance by bumping her off and over. Besides having a small dance floor the music is bad. Maybe it was just the DJ that night, but he never played any songs long enough even to try to get into a rhythm, it was just 1 min. of a bad dance song to the next. Upstairs in refreshing, but again too crowded. If you want to dance and enjoy yourself this place gets way too crowded.
Fun Nights. Great place to go and have a blast with your friends. Great times; will come back to this place everytime I go back to San Diego.
Place to BE on the weekends!. This place was so much fun. Me and my girlfriends came to downtown for like the first time in a while and stingaree was a blast!!!!!!!
Stingaree is horrible!. There is really nothing good I have to say about Stingaree. The music is no good. Drinks are overpriced, the bartenders are rude. Therefore, there is no need for them to charge a cover of $20. There people that show up there are lame too.
Great Place!. I love this place. my favorite spot is the tables above the dance floor. It is great people watching. Staff is friendly and the roof top is great for socializing!! Always have fun here & meet fun people!
Excellent food and unique rooftop experience!. I celebrated by 30th birthday rooftop at Stingaree recently and it was ultimately a great experience. The initial coordination and planning was a challenge so we were a little concerned with how the night would turn out but, to our pleasant surprise the night was a huge success! The staff was very attentive and professional. The rooftop ambience was awesome. The Kobe Sliders were amazing!! The cupcakes were a disappointment... If you get there early enough, you can take advantage of Happy Hour prices which are a great value and help offset some of the other costs like the cabana bottle service. If you get bottle service via a rooftop cabana and decide to go to the dance floor, be warned that the bouncers might not let you back up to the cabana you paid for for the entire evening. Overall, it wasn't inexpensive but it was worth it...an evening I will never forget!!
Great venue, great crowd, awful music. My friends and i came here last saturday night for our friend's 21st birthday. We decided to have dinner here at Stingaree because having dinner here would takle care of the $20 cover charge. All appetizers were $19 and all entrees were $35. The steak was delicious, but small in portions. Our waitress did not check our ID's as we ordered or drinks for dinner. If she did, she would have known earlier that it was our friend's 21st bday. After ordering desert, she found this out and comp'd one of our deserts instead. Also, one of our friends that sat at another table did not get served for nearly 20 minutes. They comp'd their first round of drinks instead. As for the decor inside Stingaree, i was very very impressed. Water falls inside as you walk in for dinner. The second floor had a line for a specific bar section, not sure why. And lastly a large rooftop bar. As for the music, DJ Fashen was simply "awful". The tracks he chose would have people dancin' for about 10 minutes, then have us standing there for a good 5 minutes before he would lay down another dance track, then have us standing there "again" for another 5 minutes before waiting for another dance track. I believe the calendar said he played hiphop but he played all types of weird Euro dance music, 70's music, and even alternative music from Nirvana (???). This left us in frustration, so all of us spent the rest of the evening on the rooftop. I took a look down onto the front door from the rooftop to see nearly 100 people waiting in line around 11pm (peak time). I believe cover was $20. But going back, the rooftop was great, especially with San Diego's great weather. All in all, a beautiful night club, delicious dinner, deserts and drinks, great open-air rooftop, awful music.
Great decor. The music was okay and different in all three floors...and you run into different sections in each floor....so, its not just three floors of music, its three floors with different rooms and different themed-decorations....luckily we got in the VIP list by making reservations and cover fee was only $10...the wait wasn't too long but we were able to get in and out...we went early, got stamped, did some bar hopping and came back to dance...
