The Cottage in La Jolla On Fay Ave. Just to set the record straight....This place The Cottage is NOT at all what it is cracked up to be. Took a friend for a birthday breakfast. She had the Western Omellette and I had their specialty Stuffed French Toast With Strawberries and Marscapone Cheese. Both of these dishes had no taste. The eggs were imitation and not real eggs/ the mushrooms and spinach had no flavor!!!!!! The french toast was soooo thick it looked gross. and did not taste good. Coffee was terrible and weak. Inside the noise was soooo loud we were anxious to get out of the place. Does not resemble the photos of the place and food on the website....Even with the 20% initial discount, not worth the trip....Go to the French Gourmet first,. where food is out of this world, service great, and atmosphere wonderful.

Best Breakfast in La Jolla. Hands down. Friendly service. Indoor-outdoor dining. Good fresh ingredients. Take an english muffin if you want or upgrade it to pumpkin bread or cranberry muffins. There is a great California omelet with avocado and bacon and oatmeal pancakes with bananas and blueberries. Thumbs up!

On a quiet corner just off La Jolla's main shopping avenue, this sunny, yellow cottage eatery surrounded by a white fence is accessible only through a narrow trellised archway. Staff wearing white t-shirts and khaki bottoms serve guests in a yellow sky-lit dining room furnished with wooden tables and cozy booths, or out on the patio with white plastic lawn chairs and table umbrellas. Specialties include strawberry-stuffed French toast, eggs benedict and tuna melts.
