Excellent restaurant!. Excellent place for a group dinner. I have had many of my friends have birthday dinners at the GSC and every single time it has been outstanding. I highly recommend the mac and cheese side dishes. The salad is great and fresh tasting. I can't say enough good things about the GSC. Every thing is priced very reasonable.

Fun, Casual, Great Value. My wife and I dined at GSC while on a vacation/business trip to San Diego. I week long meeting at the Hard Rock Hotel in SD in February she had a conference at the Omni in June so I was very familiar with the Gaslamp District. In Feb I had dined at Donovan's (totally unimpressed) and Flemings, so we wanted something different. We decided to go to GSC and arrived without knowing that you "cooked" your own steaks, and wasn't sure if we wanted to stay so we had a couple of cocktails at the bar. We then decided to stay for dinner, and was that ever the right choice!!

The family salad bowl was excellent with some great dressing and very crisp. I ordered the porterhouse and my wife ordered the NY Strip; they came to the table in saran wrap and I was pointed in the direction of the grill. We order the blue cheese scalloped potatoes as a side to share. The grill turned out to be a social gathering and sharing of "grilling secrets" which I found to be great fun. The quality of the steaks was outstanding, and of course they were cooked EXACTALLY as you wanted them. We even grilled the bread along with the steaks.

We were thoroughly impressed with the ambience and the food was excellent, we were so stuffed we couldn't finish the fabulous potatoes. Our steaks were equal or better than the typical Morton's, Capital Grill, Flemings, Ruth's, etc.; at about 1/2 the price and in a relaxed atmosphere.

Way to go Gaslamp Strip Club!!! You have a winner!!! If you're looking for an elegant evening and being waited on "hand and foot" this isn't the place for you. But if you?re tired of having your napkin folded every time you turn around, and having your perfectly mixed ice tea refilled every other time you take a sip, this is the place for you. Fun and Fabulous food is the best description of GSC. I can't wait to go back to SD so I can dine here.

Somewhat expensive, but fun for a large group.. The name is a cute play on words. The atmosphere was a selling point for me. Tons of classic pinup artwork and all the waitstaff were dressed similar, but not tacky. The food was more pricy than expected, even for a good steak house; especially because you cook it yourself! But the portions are decient sized for the cuts, and the appitizers were more than enough for 2-3 people to share! They pre-marinate the steak cuts, and there's seasoning options at the grill, but not a wide variety. Mostly just garlic salt/garlic pepper/steak seasonings/soy sauce. The point of the resturant is to socialize with other guests over the grill. Not a great romantic first date atmosphere. Probably best if you went with a large group of friends or Girl's or Boy's night out.

Not your average Steakhouse!. Just went to the Strip Club this past weekend and loved it. It can be a little busy but while waiting I enjoyed a cocktail at the bar. There was a lively crowd with a few larger groups celebrating birthdays. Once we got our table the service was great. Sides are delicious and the cuts of meat are great quality. The thing about the Strip Club is that you cook your own steaks. There are grill stations set up in the corners of the restaurant where you will find grilling instructions and all the seasoning to make the perfect steak. Everyone mingles while their steak is cooking and it makes for a fun dining experience. I will definately go back.

Gaslamp party crowds enjoy the thrill of the grill at downtown's only interactive dining destination.. The Scene
The Cohn Group's grill-your-own-steak lounge is known for house specialty New York strip steak, pin-up art adorned walls and rock star-sexy atmosphere. Interactive dining indeed, as guests gather in groups around communal grills for a fire-roasting good time. Choose from a steak-heavy menu featuring every cut imaginable, plus chicken and fish options. Then hit the grills in the back, and show off your grilling skills. Strip kabobs are some of the best grub in the house, and with the combo of three, you get a succulent tasting of beef, chicken and Ahi tuna seared with seasonal vegetables. Kitchen-prepared "sassy sides" like the truffle herb mashed potatoes are the perfect complement, and the self-serve wine cellar adds to the hands-on dining experience.
