Soggy. This was the worst Pizza I have ever had. It was so bad that the only word I have for it is ridiculous. Priceswere not that good either. I feel like throwing up. It was so salty, that it gave me a headache and indigestion.
Such good food.. The food was delicious. My honey and I were there and had great wine, in fact the wine is now my new favorite. The Thai pizza was amazing and the ceaser salad was just as good. I highly recommend this place to everyone. In fact, I'll be in Vegas for New Years and I will be going to the one there.
Terrible Service & Bland Food.
My husband and I love pizza so to celebrate our anniversary, we thought we'd treat ourselves to someplace nice in San Diego. It was a horrible experience.
We waited 5-10 minutes before our server greeted us, the drinks were wrong (c'mon, it's just soda), she never checked on us so my husband had to go to the bar to remedy the drink situation. She was more attentive to the table next to us who sat down after we did and were on dessert when we had our pizza. When it came time for the bill, she just set it on the table, barely said 2 words, and walked away.
On top of all this, the pizza tasted like it was missing something. We tried 2 different pizzas, but both were very bland. One pizza was a favorite that every other place gets right. The other pizza was new for us, but recommended by the server.
The set-up in the restaurant is okay, but the temp was way too cold.
A friend recommended Village Pizza on Orange in Coronado. We should've just gone there rather than staying in downtown SD. Save your time and money and avoid Sammys. (The staff told my husband that the owner of Sammys isn't very nice. Perhaps their feelings led to the terrible service and tasteless food)
Good stuff.
I visited Sammy's with my brother this weekend. Boy, were we impressed. This place is much better than the chain Calif. Pizza Kitchen in every way.
The interior is nicely decorated and designed. The service was good without being in the way.
The pizza and garlic cheese bread are outstanding and wine/beer selection are very good.
Pizza, pasta and salads continue to impress at this local, casual dining spot which also features a tapas menu and full bar.
In Short
A combo of comfy booths and contemporary, light wood tables fill the buslting dining room, with just a few rounds outside on the garden-like patio. Young, attentive servers are efficient - water glasses are never half full and appetizers come out instantly - in serving the diverse menu. Interesting woodfired pizzas include Teriyaki chicken and arugula pear, while the classic grilled shrimp salad and messy sundaes are also constant favorites.
