The Scene – A spectacle in all positive senses of the word, a dramatic 1950s-style Hollywood Regency decor scheme is present throughout. Patrons enter a breathtaking lobby dressed with wraparound lime-green benches, enlarged Jacquard floral art and a brilliant chandelier. At the bar, a pear-shaped inlay frames glowing bottles against a bold smoke-and-mirrors scheme. Well-heeled couples and pre-theater folk populate the sunken dining room separated by a white stencil-like partition and wire-strung Swarovski crystal tear drops. – – The Food – Inventive, contemporary…
Great food and great service
by trickdigger
I eat here often. The drinks are great, the food is amazing (with a few misses), and the staff is always incredibly friendly. My favorite is the lamb and the scallops. The wine list is also great with a particularly nice Merry Edwards pinot.
The place isn't that large, and aside from the noisy bar crowd (they have a happy hour bar special and tv's running), it's a pleasant experience. It would be perfect if they got rid of the tv's.
- Pros: Food, wine, service, drinks!
- Cons: noisy bar area, tv's
they are all confused

The window notes Mediterranean cuisine, the decor is french inspired, and the menu is asian fusion- they're all confused! This place is pretty expensive- about $30 more or less per entree. The food is NOT good, but the presentation of it is. I'm glad we used a coupon - otherwise I would have been peeved if I had to pay fully for what was put in front of me. Skip it, that is, if it doesn't close down before you go. This place was dead when we went.
- Pros: none
- Cons: food, price, ambiance, service
One of the best places in SD!
by sugarywitch
I've been for happy hour, dinner and the tasting menu and none disappointed. The beef is always perfectly cooked and the seared foie gras is to die for. The wine list is also wonderful. Once I made a reservations because everyone in my party wanted to try the foie gras and have a drink, but when we arrived they were out and failed to tell us before we were seated, even though I had mentioned the reason when I made the reservation in person just a couple hours earlier. Usually, though, the service is fantastic and interior is probably the most lovely in all of SD.
- Pros: Great food in a lovely atmosphere
- Cons: Can occasionally slip up with service
