The Cabrillo National Museum is a great place to go to get a view of the whole of San Deigo. The views are breathtaking. The Point Loma lighthouse was beautifully restored and furnished allowing for a glimpse of how the keepers of the lighthouse lived their solitary lives. They also have displays on how Point Loma functioned during war time. PROS: Breathtaking views CONS: none

The Cabrillo National Monument provides one of the best views of most of the city. The highest point in this park is the setting of an old lighthouse that gives you a fun, historical trip back in time. Many local schools take a field trip to this place, especially during whale migration season. Its a beautiful place to visit, well kept, breathtaking scenery, and really just a beautiful place to spend the day or a couple of hours. Its a great place to go for a hike, but make sure you have on the right kind of shoes (dont try it in heels). There are also places that you can bike around this gorgeous place. Visit on a clear day for one of the best views of the city. The light house even allows you to go up inside of it. The best part about this area, is the tide pools in the area. Just remember not to take anything from the tide pools so that people who visit the Cabrillo National Monument in the future will be able to enjoy them too. There is plenty of room for children to run around and play, and its a great place for a family picnic on a lazy summer afternoon.
