Cozy. casual and chic wine find in OB!. Who knew OB could host a win bar with over 800 wines!? Almost mistaken for a house on the corner, the 3rd Corner is definately a find in this little town. The set up is very unique-It is comprised of several rooms with hundreds of crates stacked high with great wine and tables for two, four or more in between. You choose your own bottle to take home or to enjoy there. Their menu is small, but contains all the necessities from light snacks to dinner dishes. The baked brie is like heaven and when paired with a great bottle of wine that I can select myself, I'll definately be back!
Ocean Beach wine shop also houses a comfortable, casual-chic restaurant and wine bar backed by bigtime San Diego foodies..
The Scene
Though prominent culinary talent and restaurateur Ed Moore owns the place, there is little pretense about the food, the wine or the ambiance at this OB eatery. It looks like a large wine cellar in the basement of an old house, with a charming mish-mash of tables tucked away in the few open corners. Three distinct rooms--bar, cafe, outdoor patio--allow everyone in the diverse crowd to find a comfortable spot to sip and chow. The menu is divided into 'smaller stuff' like olive and pate samplers and 'bigger stuff' like grilled salmon. But the more than 800 wines are really the main course here. Browse the open crates and displays throughout the dining room, rather than the menu, for a choice bottle. In cool, backwards style, the wine-savvy servers and 'tenders are happy to help select a snack to go with your grapes.
Great for a date! Great for a group!.
Whether you're in the mood to shop wine or treat yourself to an enjoyable dinner....... The 3rd Corner is your answer!
As you walk through the entrance you are greeted with a warm, stylish, yet comfortable setting. There are multiple rooms filled with tables to site, each room with setting its own mood with individual color and lighting. After being escorted to your table, you are invited to browse the walls which are lined with hundreds of wine bottles from the world.
You may choose to enjoy your selection at your table for a small corkage fee. The menu ranges from small wine compliments to thoughtful entrees. The portions are by no means small, but sized to make one comfortably full so you don't feel the need to adjust your pant's line.
My last dining experience at The 3rd Corner was with 3 friends and all of us raved over the wine and food selections. Definitely try the wild mushroom soup and pork tenderloin entree!!!
I will definitely be back!
