Favorite Pizza Downtown – I was walking downtown one day and passed by this place and I love how crunchy the crust is! It's a cool spot on Market St so I stop by when I'm in the area.
Worst pizza in the Gas Lamp – After getting a terrible attitude from the guy behind the counter(dennis i think) we finally got our pizza and not only were we dissapointed in the taste but there was a hair in it. We were so put off by the whole experiance that we just left.
Do yourself a favor and save yourself some heartache do not go to Ciros. There are too many good pizza places around to waste you time on negative attitudes and low quality contaminated food!!
Best pizza in downtown – The pizza is the only reason to go but worth having. If you go with the expectation of eating good pizza only, you will be okay. But it's more of a take out place than a sit down with great atmosphere.
TERRIBLE SERVICE – My 2 friends and I went to Ciro's on a Saturday night around 12:20am. They didn't have any plain cheese pizzas in the window. Fine. But when we asked when the next plain cheese pizza is going to be made, this threw the employees at Ciro's for a loop. You would've thought we asked them for a pizza they've never heard of before...like pizza with apples on top or something. The girls at the counter didn't know, and when we asked if they could make one for us, they asked the guys making the pizzas, who in turn just shook their heads. What? You can't make a plain cheese pizza? Finally we convinced them too (as the line behind us was growing longer), and when we said we wanted to order and pay for our slices, they said they couldn't do it until the pizza came out. At which point of course we would have to get back at the end of the line, wait in it, just to get up front and potentially have there be no plain cheese pizza left. At that point, I went to go grab my one friend who had ordered the specialty slices that were available in the window, and who was eating it in the seating area, and also to use the restroom. Well, they close the area off at 12:30am. So, I couldn't go back to sit with my friend, nor could I use the bathroom (even if I had pizza in my hand, it didn't matter. They just close off the seating area and restroom at 12:30). At which point we left and went to Hoboken pizza in PB, who gave us a fresh slice of plain cheese immediately, and I was able to use the restroom. I can't believe Ciro's is able to stay in business considering how clueless and rude the workers are. After reading the other reviews, it seems I am not the only one who has experienced this, and not only at the downtown location either! Too bad, because I liked the pizza last time I ate it. Now I'm boycotting and telling everyone else that I know to do the same.
Zero Stars if possible – Usually get Bronx Pizza in Hillcrest and should have done it this time. Ordered 2 pies, 1 cheese and 1 Sicilian with sausage. First the Cheese was cardboard, overcooked and cold with no sauce(and I don't like allot to begin with) cheese was burnt and again I say was thin cardboard. Sicilian was awful the wax paper they put on top pulled all the cheese off and the sausage was like rabbit poo, just like Dominoes. We never do this but we actually called and got our money back, threw it away and ordered Bronx.
another rush job – just recieved another pizza that should have been left in the oven another 5 minutes. The store on university is a mystery. Sometimes the best new york style pizza in town and sometimes an under cooked mess. For $20.00 bucks I'm glad to wait an extra ten minutes. Slow down and do it right, people will wait for quality.
Best place to NOT get what you order! – I placed a simple phone order with a guy that should have played in "Half-Baked." After a long pause he took my name and told me 20 minutes. I walk all the way down there (7 blocks), arriving 30 minutes after I called, and waited for a few minutes before being acknowledged. When I finaly had his attention I said I was there to get my order. His response: "Oh.... I'm sorry (he wasn't very believable), I didn't even start it yet.... I got busy." I left my Coke on the counter, walked out, and took my business to Del Taco where they were happy to take my order AND make it in a timely manner (I was hungry!).
Rude employees/slow service/below average pizza – I have gone to Ciro's twice and was dissapointed both times. Their counter service/register girl was slow, rude, and pretty much ignored us. One of the other people took our order and I guess they mostly sell slices because they couldn't understand the concept that we wanted to buy 2 whole pies. On a fairly slow night it took over 30 minutes to make our pizza. I think that is way too long for a mediocre product. Bronx Pizza in Hillcrest is much better. I lived in NY for 25 years...I know pizza. This place would never make it in NY. It's way to slow, rude, and the pizza is not that terrific. This one already has 2 strikes from me, I'm not willing to give it another chance!
Best pizza shop downtown – Best place to stop if for a slice at lunch or get a whole pie for dinner. Highly recommend the chicken cutlet parmesan specialty pizza, but ask for extra sauce.
Best pizza this side of the Brooklyn Bridge. – Ciro's pizzeria has by far the best slice of Pie in SD. The selection of pizza that they keep in the pizza case is awesome. They always offer varieties of pizza by the slice,my favorite is the Buffalo Chicken pizza with chucks of buffalo chicken and blue cheese crumbles. The fact that there open until 2:30am Thursday threw Saturday makes them a great late night snack. I just wish they had two registers so the line would move faster, but overall I'm a huge fan.....If you haven't stopped by for a slice check this place out on the corner of 6th ave and market street.
