It's A Wonder (they're still in business)!!. My wife and I are new to the area. We just left the Ciro's on Universty in Hillcrest. We wanted pizza or lasagne or something. It was horrible!. The place has an entrance that is more like a "buy by the slice" place... not a restaurant. The nicely done "restaurant" side sits next to the order counter - they looked like two different establishments. It wasn't clear wether you were supposed to sit down in the "restaurant" and wait for a waiter, or order at the counter. The music in the counter area was loud and it was difficult to talk with the young man behind the counter. Upon asking the young man how it worked he said "we could order here and he'd bring it to us"... well and good. I asked about the lasagne... they didn't have any because they were short on help... same for the other non-pizza dishes. OK, we ordered two salads, a Ceasar's for me and a spinach for my wife, and a large Special Pizza (couldn't have been a more flagrant misnomer!!). No choice of dressing was offered for my wife's salad. A Ceasar's has it's own special dressing so I didn't need to order a dressing, or so I thought. The salads arrived, the server he'd bring out some Ranch dressing.

When he arrived I said a "Caesar Salad comes with Caesar Dressing". He said something I couldn't hear. The wife never did get a choice. Apparently all they had was Ranch. OK, bad start. Then the pizza arrived. It looked good except there was no sauce... maybe it's a regional style or something. It was the flattest tasting most bland pizza I'd ever had. Unremarkable to the Nth degree... and we paid $22 for it. The best part of the experience was that the room was nice, and the coke and 7-up were good we didn't feel like dropping $8 on a glass of wine. When they brought the paper plates and plastic utensils with the pizza I knew this place, and presumably the owner have NO CLUE whatsoever about what makes a place special. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. Anyplace is better than this! This is the first time I've ever felt so moved to write a negative review of a restaurant... make that "place"... this place is not a restaurant. Now we know why there were three occupied tables in the place, and all the other restaurants in the area were bustling. The single star rating is way too high. Minus four would be more apt!

Don't even waste your time.. This place is a joke. My wife, daughter and I were visiting from out of town, I checked online for pizza places around town to take my family, the number I found online was disconnected. We figured we would walk over there anyway, when we got there we walked in, open sign still lit, I asked if I could order some pizza, the cashier "with a mouth full of food", mumbled were closed. One of the loud mouth cooks yelled "maybe you should have called before walking down here" I said I did call and I got a this line is disconnected message, the guy said we have had the same number for years, you just dialed the wrong number, I said that you may want to check on that It could be losing you business, he just replied "you dialed the wrong number!" After returning to the hotel room I tried the number again, I was correct, the wrong number is posted online, I guess the joke is on them. Serves them right, the were very rude and abrasive. From the looks of these comments here it seems that I am not the only one with these issues.

--HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE--. I have a busy life and will take the time to inform everyone how HORRIBLE the customer service at Ciros downtown is every time i go there. You ask y i keep going back, the pizza is OK and friends insist but don't listen to me.

The guys behind the counter (one of them the owner) doesn't care what you think and treats you as if you are a wasted person (which every time I am not). Any time you ask for anything they give you an attitude and DO NOT set a good tone in the restaurant.

I'm so annoyed AGAIN I am willing to get together 30 people and pay them to protest for a weekend in front of Ciros at night just to prove a point. Anyone agree?

Ive read the reviews and ALL of them say the service is disgusting. I have already reported to Weights and Measures, Consumer Affairs, and BBB.

Favorite Pizza Downtown. I was walking downtown one day and passed by this place and I love how crunchy the crust is! It's a cool spot on Market St so I stop by when I'm in the area.

Worst pizza in the Gas Lamp. After getting a terrible attitude from the guy behind the counter(dennis i think) we finally got our pizza and not only were we dissapointed in the taste but there was a hair in it. We were so put off by the whole experiance that we just left.

Do yourself a favor and save yourself some heartache do not go to Ciros. There are too many good pizza places around to waste you time on negative attitudes and low quality contaminated food!!

ZERO STARS

Best pizza in downtown. The pizza is the only reason to go but worth having. If you go with the expectation of eating good pizza only, you will be okay. But it's more of a take out place than a sit down with great atmosphere.

TERRIBLE SERVICE. My 2 friends and I went to Ciro's on a Saturday night around 12:20am. They didn't have any plain cheese pizzas in the window. Fine. But when we asked when the next plain cheese pizza is going to be made, this threw the employees at Ciro's for a loop. You would've thought we asked them for a pizza they've never heard of before...like pizza with apples on top or something. The girls at the counter didn't know, and when we asked if they could make one for us, they asked the guys making the pizzas, who in turn just shook their heads. What? You can't make a plain cheese pizza? Finally we convinced them too (as the line behind us was growing longer), and when we said we wanted to order and pay for our slices, they said they couldn't do it until the pizza came out. At which point of course we would have to get back at the end of the line, wait in it, just to get up front and potentially have there be no plain cheese pizza left. At that point, I went to go grab my one friend who had ordered the specialty slices that were available in the window, and who was eating it in the seating area, and also to use the restroom. Well, they close the area off at 12:30am. So, I couldn't go back to sit with my friend, nor could I use the bathroom (even if I had pizza in my hand, it didn't matter. They just close off the seating area and restroom at 12:30). At which point we left and went to Hoboken pizza in PB, who gave us a fresh slice of plain cheese immediately, and I was able to use the restroom. I can't believe Ciro's is able to stay in business considering how clueless and rude the workers are. After reading the other reviews, it seems I am not the only one who has experienced this, and not only at the downtown location either! Too bad, because I liked the pizza last time I ate it. Now I'm boycotting and telling everyone else that I know to do the same.

Zero Stars if possible. Usually get Bronx Pizza in Hillcrest and should have done it this time. Ordered 2 pies, 1 cheese and 1 Sicilian with sausage. First the Cheese was cardboard, overcooked and cold with no sauce(and I don't like allot to begin with) cheese was burnt and again I say was thin cardboard. Sicilian was awful the wax paper they put on top pulled all the cheese off and the sausage was like rabbit poo, just like Dominoes. We never do this but we actually called and got our money back, threw it away and ordered Bronx.
