“good steak, good dessert, highly recommend.”
“Great food, view, wine.”
“Great food, view, wine.”
“We've gone for holidays twice for the prix fixe menus which have all been excellent.”
“The worst was the hostess who could care less about the wait and was extremely rude and nonchalant.”
“The food was very average, definately not worth the amount it cost but the view is very nice, especially if you have a window table, which is also very hard to get.”
I'm not sure how one can better a dining experience that is heavenly like the Marine Room's. It's my most favorite restaurant in San diego.
Nice View... But Food? Just OK.
The Marine Room is beautiful. The service is amazing. Our window table was all we imagined it would be. (last night) But let's be real.......
The food was "just okay" & way over priced for what it was. And my opinion does come with some experience in the kitchen. I mean it was good food; very pretty. But it was no better than 100 other restaurants around town. I've had the same yummy Merlot in DelMar, along with fabulous food & a better sunset, for almost half the price. My salad last night, had a fancy name, but it was just greens, with a bite of fruit, a crouton & a sliver of cheese. Some of the greens absorbed the vinegarette, which made them a bit soggy. But the vinegarette was one of the best I've tasted, so..... The ugly brown sauce my pork cheek & scallops were sitting in, had a strange smell & no taste, and added nothing to the dish. The deserts we had were awesome.... Yeah for that!
I do get it, why people want to eat here. And why they want people to know they ate here. But it has nothing to do with the food being superior. What ever makes you happy; go for it. All in all, I'm so thankful we can now cross the Marine Room off our list.
Bon Appetit!
The best. My Husband and I have been coming here for years for any of our special occasions. The view along with the food and level of service are unmatched in San Diego. Thank you for always making out experience one to remember. Will keep coming back year after year.
Pricey but great view. I like this place, the foods are very good and the view of the sunset right by water is great... and you are literally right by the water... The portion is small but it looks and tastes amazing.
A great date place.
I really enjoyed my time at this restaurant. The last time I was here was about 20 years ago for a special occasion. This still seems like a special occasion place to me.
My ratings: 10 point scale
Food: 8.5
Presentation: 9.5
Service: 9
View: 9.5
Ambiance: 9
I will definitely be back, this is a very special place.
The best oceanview in San Diego.
It doesn't get any better than this oceanview unless you go sit on the beach. This restaurant goes right out onto the sand and the waves actually crash up against it. You can't get any closer than that!
Their food and drinks are delicious and I recommend them especially if you have a significant other.
Corkage Fee.
One of my pet peeves around the industry is when a restaurant has a short promotion and then tries to use it as advertising forever.
The Marine Room had a $0 corkage fee for, as best as I can tell, under a year and now it is back to $25 per bottle.
Since they haven't corrected any of their online ads, people should be aware.
Great food, view, wine..
I've eaten here maybe half a dozen times. Here are the constants: Great food, great view, great wine.
We've gone for holidays twice for the prix fixe menus which have all been excellent. We've been lucky to get a table by the window everytime despite it being packed. Highly recommended.
If money is no object, this La Jolla waterfront jewel is the ultimate elegant indulgence in both cuisine and decor..
The Scene
Perched out beyond the sand line on La Jolla Shores, waves often splash against the floor-to-ceiling dining room windows, which are the only thing separating you from the ocean at this classy, coastal establishment. It's won nearly ever local and culinary award in the book--from service to best chef--and it's all for good reason. This quiet, romantic destination defines San Diego's fine dining scene.
The Food
Nearly every dish that lands on the table is overwhelming, considering the view in the backdrop, but a few standout starters include roasted forest mushrooms with 20-year-old Ambroshante sherry, the Maine lobster bisque and the classic Caesar salad prepared fresh for two tableside. For the main course, fennel-butter basted lobster tail melts away and fresh, flavorful fishes like Alaskan halibut or macadamia-coated organic salmon will not disappoint the most discerning seafood connoisseur.
MY FAMILY'S 4th of JULY FAV!! =). love everything about this place. my family usually come at least once a year for 4th of july. you can see fireworks while you're dining here and the view of the ocean frm the window is amazing. very romantic and family friendly. this one time we had went, my sister requested some disney songs and the man was so nice to play all of them. good steak, good dessert, highly recommend.
