Do not use their referral program. I referred two friends to them and have not get any penny back. I had my last appointment on Friday and they acknowledge my referrals they still said that they could not give me the credit for system issues.

They mislead their clients with this program. You don't get a buck back!

Horrible. Just horrible.. My experience here was unpleasant to say the least. The whole story is below but the short of it is that this salon is terrible. The stylist was rude and unprofessional. We came in with a 50% off special (normal hair cut rate is $95.00) and I think he gave my daughter a bad hair cut because he couldn't be bothered to give her the time and effort he would have given someone paying full price.

I brought my daughter in for a hair cut on the recommendation of a co-worker. She has had some hair loss and I wanted to get her a "high end" cut to help mask the thinning of her hair and so it would look good as her hair grows back (which it has started to do).

I told Dan (the stylist) that she needed a haircut that was basically wash and wear (since we couldn't use a flat iron or a blow dryer on her hair - doctor's orders). I wasn't that happy with the cut when I saw he was finished but I didn't say anything because her hair was wet and I wanted to see how it looked dry. I also bought some of the hair products that Dan recommended since he said it would help her hair style. Once dry, her hair looked the same as when we walked into the salon just shorter. My daughter and I used the products and styled her hair over two days and it made no difference. Everyone who saw my daughter's hair said the same thing: it looks the same just shorter.

I called the salon to let them know that my daughter wasn't happy with her hair cut and spoke to David (the receptionist). He told me that both Dan and the salon manager were not in but he would take a message and someone would call me back. But he could schedule me another appointment with Dan to try again. I told him that my daughter didn't want to come back because she hated her hair cut and didn't trust Dan to try again (she was afraid she would end up again with the same haircut but shorter still). I wasn't asking for a refund, I just wanted Dan to know that my daughter wasn't happy with her hair cut. I also wanted to return the products I had bought (which the salon allows) because I didn't feel they were the proper product for my daughter's hair type. David told me that the products weren't working properly because I wasn't using the right shampoo and conditioner and that if I bought them at the salon I would notice a difference. Seriously!! I don't like your product and your first instinct is to sell me more of it? I told him I wasn't interested and would come in for a refund on the product.

The next day Dan calls me (with an angry tone) and immediately wants to know where I get off saying that he gave my daughter a bad haircut. I told him that my daughter didn't like her haircut so that made it a bad haircut. He told me that he gave her the haircut she wanted (No, he didn't). He said that I had told him that she wanted a trim so her hair could grown out (No, I didn't say that: I said I wanted a hair cut that would also look good as it grows out). He keep insisting that he didn't give bad hair cuts and that if my daughter's hair looked bad it was because she didn't give him much to work with. I told him that he was insulting my child and I didn't like that. He said that her texture was difficult to work with. I told him that if he didn't have the skill set to work with her "texture" he should have told me and we would have gone elsewhere. He just keep on insisting that he didn't give bad haircuts so the fact that my daughter didn't like her haircut was her own fault. I realized that I wasn't getting anywhere with Dan (and probably never would) and again told him that I was going to chalk this experience up to a bad haircut and leave it at that. Conversation over.

I went in and got my product refund but I will never set foot in this place again. Horrible. Just horrible.

The Worst Salon in San Diego. This is by far the worst salon ever. The staff is so rude and the owner is worse!! I had the worst salon experience in my life at Dearinger; I recomend if you care about your hair at all avoid this salon!! If it was possible I would give them a zero rating.

Very Unprofessional and Not a pleasant salon visit. first of all i dont typically write reviews online about the places i receive services from, however, this time i wanted other people to know that Dearinger does not live up to all the hype. i was a customer of Dearinger for over a year and referred many new customers to them - which i regret now. Krystal the salon manager is completely unprofessional and did nothing to address my concerns after receiving a less than satisfactory highlight. She clearly does not care about client retention. I dont know why i kept going back to the salon, probably the convenience of location, but every time i left i was upset with my services and more upset for swallowing a huge bill on top of receiving services I was not happy with. They schedule appointments basically on top of one another so you might have your hair washed by one person then your hair brushed by another then cut by another and dried by another. All in all that makes for a very impersonal experience - more like a car on an assembly line just waiting for the next worker to attend to me. So not only was my colorist overbooked and never on time they left during my service to consult on another client - very, very unprofessional. This is the usual routine for this salon - clearly Mark Dearinger is not concerned with quality and building true client relations rather pushing as many people through the salon as possible and spitting them out just as fast. Not to mention every time someone washed my hair, who was never the person who had colored my hair, washed it so hard it became so insanely tangled it took the hair brusher like 40 minutes just to detangle the mess they had created. And most importantly the salon services i had done were not that great - i was never satisfied and left just feeling angery. Not to mention every time i went to salon i spent 3+ hours there, which is just too long. With all the overlap in booking i spent a great deal of the time waiting for the next "assembly worker" to address my hair. So instead of feeling good about my hair i was just ready to heck out of the salon (it usually was not until i was home that i realized i was also unhappy about my hair). On top of that the salon workers are constantly throwing new magazines on your lap - which have other people cut hair in the margins like they had swept the floor with them - absolutely disgusting. And on top of the poor service the stylist are constantly trying to get you to buy products from the salon. It was really distracting and made the situation awkward. Most people have a hard time spending 50 more dollars on some fancy shampoo after spending 150 dollars for a less than par salon service. I am all about giving people a second or even third chance to make things right but Dearinger does not seem too concerned with keeping loyal clients. This is amplified by the salon manager Krystal's unwillingness to address customer's concerns.

Go to Orange Salon in Encinitas. I had an awful experience at Dearinger. I thought it would be fun as it is in a great area of town and supposedly has a good name. I went to Orange Salon & Spa, a local salon in Encinitas and had a girl named Lisa fix it. She wouldn't comment on another stylists hair cut but her face said it all.
