I travel to San Diego on Business and have had 2 facials and 2 massages at Gaia Day Spa. The massages were ok, especially if you like deep tissue type massages. You won't find weak/relaxing hands here. However, the facials were the two worst facials I ever got. First, the 65 minute facial for $135 was over in 55 minutes flat. This is unheard of because if I was paying for a 55 minute facial I would expect the price to be around $100. Their explanation is that they build in time for you to get dressed, get to the room, etc. Anyone who gets facials knows this is BS. Even worse though is that both facialists were so rough that the skin on my face was pulled hard in whatever direction her hands were going. I literally looked at her hands at the end of the facial expecting to see man hands or catcher's mitts, but they were regular girl hands. They just don't know how to give a relaxing facial. You would think that seeing my cheeks pulled back and forth four inches in either direction would have tipped them off. The spa at Torrey Pines Lodge in La Jolla is way better than Gaia Day Spa.

Pros: quiet lounge with interesting decor

Cons: rough facialists; time cut short

The products used in the Facials and Body treatments are sooo nice, they smell fantastic and give great results. Simply walking into the Spa is realaxing, your senses are taken over with the sounds, sights and smells of the beautiful, Zen-like interior. All of the treatment rooms are private so there is no "community locker room", you change and shower in your private suite which is very nice. Gaia Day Spa is TRULY the best Spa I have ever been to.

Pros: Validated Parking, refreshments served, ambience

Cons: None I can think of
