No Flavor, No Heat.
I saw all these great reviews and said "we have to got there"
We love Mexican food, and every trip to Mexico it's always the best food. Here at Cenote Grill it's not so good. The food looks great and all with large portions but that's as far as it goes.
The food has no flavor. First you get chips and some liquid in this little cup that is runny and tasteless. And the little cup is so small you cannot get a chip in it.. We asked for hotter sauce but they did not have any, then we asked for some Jalape?os or Sorento chilies to spice things up.
Then we ordered Chili Con Queso, and it too did not have any favor and was weak on the heat. What is it with this stuff, I'm not for bland food.
The main course was the Carne Asada Burrito Ranchero, The plate looked great for presentation. But it was bland. The red sauce had no flavor nor did the Carne Asada. I tried adding some of the Con Queso and so called runny salsa with no luck for adding flavor.
I'm sorry but when I go for Mexican food it needs to be flavorful. The Cenote Grill does not have flavorful food, and that is a shame. Good Mexican food is flavorful and has some heat, here the food has neither.
Local secret.
What a find! We were looking for a local casual dining spot that is not a chain when we came across Cenote Grill on citysearch. We were very pleasantly surprised. The guacamole was fresh and one of the best I've ever had. I had a salad with a creamy cilantro dressing. Very tasty.
The restaurant is small with great ambiance. Friendly staff. I would gladly recommend to anyone and have.
Best flavor. My family has been going to Cenote's since they opened. We love it! Everything on the menu is so fresh and full of flavor, it's hard to decide what to order. We take all of our friends and out of town guest to Cenote's. It's always a huge success. Everyone is always amazed at how good the food is. When ever my sister is in town, we have to go to Cenote's almost everyday of her visit. I highly recommend it.
Best Guacamole this side of the Border!. I don't even get that other review. Chips out of the ground?? Whatever. Don't let that negative (lame) review keep you away from this hidden treasure. Cenote serves up a casual and yet creative menu of Mexican food. The guacamole is out of the world and everything is always hot and fresh. I have been dining there for over 3 years and the service is consistently good and the servers often remember your favorite dish. It's like Cheers, but without all the drunks (ha-ha) i.e., "everyone knows your name." My faves: fish tacos, enchiladas with red sauce and the BEST spinach salad (better than the Brigantine in my opinion). Cenote rocks!!
Slow service. The food is OK. But the delivery takes forever. I believe the problem is that they are understaffed. The chips are too organic tasting like they pulled them out of the dirt and left a few rocks in them.
