Wow, Great Eats!. I went there thinking its going to be just another place to eat, and as recommended by a friend, I ordered the apple griddle cake. I was blown away! This thing was gi-normous, and super delish! It came warm and gooey and the carmalization of the apples took my breath away. The people who sat at the other table were staring so hard, I will definately recommend this to everybody.
Attention Breakfast Cult Members.
Not sure why this place has an almost cult-like following. There is usually a line outside (which does move very fast). I guess if you are a breakfast fanatic, you will enjoy Richard Walker's. True, they do have huge pancakes, omlets and a variety of german delights (and mediocre coffee).
I found the food to be good, but not great, the portions to be big, and the prices slightly high. All in all, I would eat here again, but I probably wouldn't wait in line.
Wish they delivered to Northen California. I am a French Toast person but Richard Walkers' could turn me into a pancake person. The flap jacks are fantastic, I have not had crepes this good since the Magic Pan (I wish it was still in business).
Delicious. I love the breakfast here...and so does everyone else in the downtown area. Because there is always a wait I suggest bringing a copy of the newspaper and a cup of coffee with you. In addition to pancakes I love getting eggs here...everything is rich and delicious.
best breakfast. I came here when I discovered that they serve crepes. And I love crepes! They have delicious strawberry crepes that I could eat everyday. Another favorite of mine is the german pancake..its kind of a mix between a crepe and a pancake you eat it with lemon and butter and thats it. you dont need syrup or anything because the dough is just that delicious. they also have the best cup of coffee. think its because they use heavy whipping cream as the creamer but it is so delicious. everything they serve there is sooo good. bacon waffle.. mmmm corned beef hash...yum the only thing is they dont have any alcohol so you cant enjoy a mimosa with your breakfast but other than that I could eat there everyday ( but i'd gain 50 pounds so I wont)
YUMMY. LOVE IT!! A bit noisy when dinning inside. Outside is great. Its best to come after 12:00 to avoid the lines and walk right in. Great for those who love sweets. Yummy Crepes, pancakes. Great Service.
Huge portions, but go for brunch to avoid lines.
We visited mid-week about 11 am. It was decorated nicely & in warm, contemporary colors. Unfortunately, we were seated w/ the unisex loo on one side & the kitchen on the other. They cleaned our table as soon as we sat & were given coffees immediately. The OJ was good & tasted fresh squeezed although not very cold. We ordered the apple pancakes, side of bacon & egg white spinach omelet w/cheese. The waiter suggested I try it w/ the jalapeno cheese as it makes it more flavorful, which I did.
We got our orders in 10 min. The apple pancake looked about the size of a whole apple pie. My omelet was massive & came w/ 3 regular pancakes. The omelet intimidated me so I went to work on the pancakes first. Good, w/ plenty of euro butter to smother it with. The apple pancake was delicious, although a bit sweet for my taste. The bacon was excellent. When I finally got the courage to go for the omelet, it was ..different. Nicely browned on the outside but there was something runny inside. Not sure if the runniness was cheese or uncooked egg, it tasted like neither. Definitely was NOT jalapeno cheese. Mushroom sauce is served on the side, but not a lot of it. Too bad, as this was the only thing that gave it some flavor from the overall blandness. Had to pepper it & add bacon to give it more flavor but still just ended up eating only the cooked parts.
The waiter popped up mid-meal to ask if I needed a take out box. I asked for 2, but he gave me 1. Well b4 finishing, busboys started clearing our table. I?m not sure why we were being rushed as the place was starting to empty.
With our coupon (1/2 of 2nd entree?big whoop!) our bill came to about $28. We put 2 20?s down & waiter asked if we needed change. I think he seriously thought we?d give them a $12 tip! The longest wait we had was not in line or for our food, it was for the change.
