great place for family or a date

My wife, my 8 month old son and I stopped by for the first time on a saturday night . My son loved it, every one said hi to him. And they even played the sax and clarinet right in front of him. We loved it too, service was great food was great. Nice big place really roomy. We felt like we stepped out of San Diego. Will go there again maybe next time just my wife and I.

Soul, creole, cajun, or southern food? Call it what you may but it is dang good!

Magnolias is conveniently located in Market Creek Plaza which is a much needed fabulous new edition to this part of town. It easily accessible to the trolley if you are taking the short trip from downtown Gaslamp.

I have dined here on 4 separate occasions and the food is truly delicious. The first dish that I tried here was the Fried Pork Chops. You get a choice of sides with the dinners, so elected to have the Macaroni and Cheese, and Hush Puppies. My meal out in less than 15 minutes but the freshly baked from corn muffins kept me occupied while I waited.

The meal was exceptionally delicious! Flavors upon flavors. You know the kind of food you get when your back home. The Hush Puppies were the stand out - warm, sweet, with a touch of spice. Honestly I had not had a recipe like this before. The pork chops were very good, although they are not my favorite dish from here.

Other dishes that I have tried are Jambalaya which came with flavorful sausage, dirty rice, and an array of vegetables. Almost better than my grandmas! I have also tried the ribs which is smoked in a smoker overnight and then brushed with the families BBQ sauce (This is my favorite). Lastly I have also tried their fried chicken, which again is a flavor that is only rivaled by kitchens in the deep south.

The environment has a very comfortable and inviting feel. The dining room has plenty of space to spread out, and there is even a private dining area for groups. There outside dining available as well. In addition they also cater, so you can bring this good food to your next event, just in case you can't find the location.

The servers were friendly and knowledgeable and full of suggestions. They also have a full bar which will help you unwind. The only thing is their wine list is not that extensive. But who cares the food here is truly wonderful, and very affordable.
