We currently are patrons of harbor fish and chips just down the way but decided to try something nicer. We went to Rockin" Baja Lobster just to try something new. The service was 'just ok" nothing great. We ordered the tequila lime shrimp as an appetizer. It came with 6 tiny shrimp and two miniscule pieces of garlic bread swimming in a pool of the most excessive amount of pre-packaged chopped garlic I have ever seen. For dinner I ordered the Del mar burrito.. It was supposed to contain shrimp and lobster but only had shrimp, and was covered in a sticky cheese sauce that tasted pre packaged and stale. Upon biting into one of the shrimp the texture was WAY OFF and the taste even worse. Unfortunately I made the very very poor decision to swallow the shrimp. I have been sick for 3 days. My husband ordered a bucket that came with a miniscule piece of carne asada, a small piece of chicken that was more rubber than chicken, 2 tiny lober looking tails that tasted so fishy he didnt want to eat them, and a few shrimp that had no flaver at all when removed from the shell. The rice was over cooked and stale, but at least the beans were decent. As far as the atmosphere... There was a woman walking between the bar and the outside appearing as though she was soliciting. There was a waitress who was chain smoking at the bar not 10 feet from our table causing smoke to drift straight into my face. Two waitress were drinking at the bar and it wasn't soda. Dinner check... $65.00 Babysitter.... $40.00 Dr. Visit... $100.00 Prescription... $30.00 Missed work... $450.00 Actual cost of meal... $685.00

after waiting 20 min for a table (when 3 open tables were visible) we were seated outside. the location has a decent view of the harbor. WARNING: do NOT get the shrimp cocktail. although the menu claims 7 jumbo shrimp served with cocktail sauce what actually comes to the table is chopped shrimp tails ( it think i counted 7- at least they took them out of the shell) served in an oversized martini glass mixed/blended into a cocktail-ish sugary salsa - a with a plate of tortilla chips. we would have complained but the waiter ran off and didnt return for about 20 minutes. in fact he sent our entree with a food runner, though entirely forgetting our bottomless salad, which he had to take off the check later, as it never came. our entree the mahi mahi was good size - was slightly over cooked and way over priced. served with red and green peppers the rice was the best thing on the plate. the drinks had little to no alcohol- which you can usually expect out of a tourist trap but this was just pathetic. and since the waiter was barely there we were happy to pay and get outta there asap. i wouldn't recommend this place - unless you are there for view and a bucket of beer.
Pros: view
Cons: food
