Wanna tip?...don't bother...
This company has been nothing but a pain...from the nasty notices that you're late (when you're not)...the higher than competitive rates...very poor customer service (the drivers...the office staff (gal who answers the phone needs an attitude check)) and just basically, the overall experience.
During a national recession when so many are out of work and those who do work are paying for those out of work AND the high cost of bad government, having to put up with any company that doesn't want to provide good customer service to their paying customers is sending out a BIG message LOUD and clear...we could care less about you...we'll grab our "Obama bucks" when they start handing them out to large business owners (they're the next "too big to fail") and fold before we give good service to our "customers". Amazing....!!
My response to them is Good Riddens!! I'll patronize the local small-business with a big heart for their customer-base...Fallbrook Gas Company. Not only do they make you feel like part of their family-owned business, but you know they really care about their customer because they understand that their business is dependent on a good customer base...something I think big business America has forgotten. Probably because they're bailed out with American tax dollars by big-business oriented "representatives" in Washington D.C.
Frankly, I don't even recognize our country anymore...the distinct colors in the American flag that once represented self-governance, independent thinking and Freedom as payment for hard work and diligence is now a murky mix of "grey area" where the slogans like "Work smarter, not harder," and "Look out for #1" has replaced the proud American spirit with the condescending and raunchy attitude of an ignorant, slovenly, dependent, and disgustingly arrogant cesspool of human waste called the new American global-oriented society. (off my soap-box now)
I'm ashamed of companies like AmeriGas and not only will not patronize them again, but will let my neighbors, family and friends know about their poor customer service as well. I hope that folks who read this "tip" will take one from me...run as fast as you can to a competitor, and check out their reviews as well. There are still plenty of good companies out there to do business with, and the day we all turn our attention and hard-earned $$ to companies that place a premium on the ideals of America; honesty, respect, diligence and comradery, will be a great day indeed. I'm starting TODAY! Goodbye, AmeriGas.
Amerigas is the biggest ripoff in san marcos ca.
so we finally got the home of our dreams, well except one thing the pool/spa has a gas heater, but no gas service. but we got a 280 gal propane tank with the house. prior owners told us it came with the house. or so we thought. we have had the tank filled twice since we moved in. last time was about 2 weeks ago at a cost of $455.00 so i have about 80% now today Amerigas shows up and not to say its they're tank or can we sign up with them, no they did not even want my business. they plugged the tank and was going to just drive away with no 24hour notice and when i told him to get off my property he replied make me. i don't know about you but that's not the kind of business I want to give my hard errand money too. after plugging the tank the guy said call us when the tank is empty and we will come and get it. ok so all you have to do once your tank is empty call one of the many locally owned and operated propane gas company, i choose Fallbrook propane because when i called to inquire the people there made me feel like part of the family and was able to get my needs taken care of the next day. now that is customer service. not like the very rude and hostel attitude i got from Amerigas 120 Woodland Parkway San Marcos, CA 92069
(760) 744-1821 once your tank is empty you too can have Americas remove their tank and get one from a locally owned and operated business, you will not only get much better customer service but you will also be supporting your local community and business. don't let what happened to me happen to you. next step is to file complaint with the utility's commission and to file suit for theft services. don't let scum like this do it to you. take action ASAP before you're a victim too.
THE WORST COMPANY I'VE EVERY DEALT WITH IN MY LIFE. DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT use this company!! We recently moved into a home where the previous owners used Amerigas, so we just went with them. They double charged us for the initial tank and we've been battling them over it ever since. I've spoken to FIVE different representatives about it. ALL of them have admitted to their error and told me the charge would be removed. Each new representative told me there was no record of the previous person doing any work. They have been a complete nightmare and totally incompetent from day 1. I can't wait until this issue is resolved and we don't have to deal with them again. **If you read other reviews on other sites, you'll see we're not the only ones dealing with this issue. I wouldn't be surprised if they show up on the news one day as scam artists.** On top of that, we've been told by neighbors that they charge as much as a dollar more per gallon than other companies. Go elsewhere and avoid multiple headaches!!
Yeah, both rude and dishonest.... ...just like the previous reviewers say. Utterly awful, can't believe they are stil in business. Regularly overcharge, promise to adjust when you complain but then they do not, then claim when you call back that they have no idea what you are talking about. This has now happened to me three times. As soon as this supply of gas is out, they are gone. I have never written a review on line in my life, but this one must be written. Use ProFlame or Ferrelgas.
If there were negative stars I would give them 5 negative stars. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I have been overcharged, wrongly charged , etc.
They refuse to honor coupons sent out in the mail.
They quote one price on the phone and charges another on the bill.
They over deliver then expect to be paid for something not ordered.
They do not respond to email or phone calls. Wrote to the corporate office and even they have not been able to get the local company to do things right.
They are constantly OVER PRICED by as much as a $1.00/gallon compared to other propane dealers in the area.
They never leave a delivery ticket even though I have asked them to several times. Heck even the gas station attendants in Mexico at least point out they zeroed the pump before they start pumping and point what the amount is when they are done pumping. NO such such verification here. You just have to take their word for how much they delivered.
STAY AWAY! I recommended using Fallbrook Propane! No hook up fees. No deposit. Just GREAT friendly family business and REALLY good prices.
Told them to come get their tank MONTHES ago haven't heard a thing back.

I have been overcharged, double charged, wrongly charged you name it. Too much to tell everything, but here is a sample. Charged for a regulator that was less then 2 years old. they couldn't find our account after being a customer for (at that time) 7 years. Illegally marked gas tank. Finally (after 5 orders and 7 years) swapped out the tank for a legally tagged one was then charged twice for the gas. cancelled service and still got tank rental charges. They wanted to charge me $130 to pick up the tank.
I switched to Pro Flame have had great service and even help to deal with Amerigas.
