sushi..... Great environment and location, but the food was really dissapointing. Considering it's cost, husband and I have had a LOT better sushi.

Fantastic specialty rolls. Over the past few months I've been on a huge sushi kick and try to find a couple places in each town I travel to (on business). I've also found some great places in my hometown that I go to quite regularly. I'm not a huge sashimi fan because I like a good mixture of testures and flavors, so raw fish and a little rice doesn't do it for me. I usually stick to specialty and hand rolls. The sushi rolls at Katsu stand out in my mind as the best I've had anywhere. I don't recall the names of the rolls I tried but they were fabulous. I usually go for one deep-fried style of specialty roll (that has spicy tuna whenever possible) and then one or two other specialy rolls. I love spicy tuna and tobiko so I usually end up getting something that is a bit spicy. I will be coming back to San Marcos in a month or so and plan on eating here at least twice. Try some of the specialty rolls and you won't go wrong.

Good service, bland food. Maybe the teppan bar is worthwhile?. Very busy on a Friday evening, but I don't know why. I ate there once with my wife in March, 2007. Food was bland - quite flavorless, except the sashimi, which was served on lemon slices which overwhelmed the fish and the Miso soup, which was excessively salted. Service was good.
