Tips for Motel 6 San Diego Airport/Harbor

Disgusting. We were desperate for a room and pulled up choices on our GPS. We called a bunch of hotels and due to availability and cost, we chose this Motel 6 since it was late and we just needed a room for the night. We were entertaining the possibility of staying two more nights. We had to tell the front desk person on the phone to hold the room for us with our credit card since he just told us he only had one room and couldn't hold it for us and we were still an hour away. Imagine my horror when we drove up with our kids, ages one and five, and saw that there was a strip bar next to it. Planes soared above the hotel. As soon as we entered the room, the carpet looked filthy and proved to be filthy when it turned our feet and socks black. The only chair in the room was broken. The sheets were old and thin. We skipped the boys' usual bath before bedtime since I didn't want to put my kids in that bathtub. We also kept them indoors and refused to let them peek out of the window for fear that they might see something inappropriate. I didn't feel safe at all at that motel. This is the most overpriced sleazy/filthy motel I've ever seen. Nobody should pay $75 for a dump like this. We got out of there as early as we could and went to another hotel for the rest of our stay in San Diego. The friends we were visiting thought we were out of our minds for staying there. We wouldn't have endured even one night if it wasn't so late and we couldn't get a refund. To date, this has been my worst hotel experience.
