“to dress up really but a great atmosphere and decor”
“you could taste it and now i know what fckn chocolate syrup tastes like on tamales.”

“the salads were terrible.”
“Even with the great patio seating, the service, the energy and excitement of 5th street at night, this place still managed to ruin our night in San Diego.”
“paid for my unfinished meal in full and didnt return my food, but i made sure to let the waiter know the food was wrong.”
“ve had bad mexican before”
“have eaten at many San Diego Mexican restaurants in my life, and this was the most disappointing, the most over priced, & the worst service.”
service was magical. The service was magical... Freddy was a nice guy, not try-hard nice but simply an interesting man who cared that we had a nice afternoon. We chatted about all kinds of things, and he was just happy to talk and find out what we were about. One of the best servers I've met in a while, hope we reflected that in our generous tip. Also the lady with the water, she never let our glasses go empty which was good as it was about 100 degrees! We left La Fiesta in the highest of spirits, they really cared about us and that was reflected in the level of service and quality of food and drink we got.One important thing to note though is that the inside smells rather fishy, not bad fishy but fresh fishy, although it's still not a nice smell on a hot day, so maybe opt the outside in the shade seating. That is all.To those who've had an honestly bad experience at this place, it's too bad, but I'm guessing that most of the bad reviews on here are probably from those people who just love a good kvetch. Try it again and see if it's still as bad the second time, because I really can't understand how you all had such a bad time.
simply brilliant. We had an amazing time here, simply brilliant. We only went for snacks and happy hour. $3 margaritas which are perfectly mixed, and large. Best ones I've tasted, and I've been around the area. They have different flavours like strawberry, mango and banana plus others. They even made a bloody mary for my boyfriend for $4 which apparently was awesome, although I think they taste like cold soup (generally, not just at La Fiesta). The nachos were very good. Our only qualm was that the sour cream was a little sparse, not much to dip in, but it's hard to get the balance right. I would rather have too little than have to scrape it off with a spoon every time.
wonderful dinner experience. I had a really wonderful dinner experience. My only complaint was that I was originally seated right next to the men's room and the smell was unpleasant. I was dining alone and the only table for two that I saw was back there. I asked to be moved and the staff quickly relocated me to a more pleasant seat. It was during Happy Hour, yet the restaurant was not too crowded. Most of the guests were seated outside, but I preferred the cooler inside seating. Portions were very generous, food was quite flavorful, and the margaritss were amazing. Service was very good. I enjoyed myself. If in town, I would love to go again.
service excellent and meal awesome. Best mexican food I've ever had! Serveice excellent and meal awesome.
High-class Mexican food!. No need to dress up really but a great atmosphere and decor. They have outdoor seating and so it was nice to dine al fresco; chips and dip served to you as soon as you are seated... refills abound. The salsa is hot though, so beware! I ordered a pollo relleno dish- chickn wrapped over avocado; it was really great. Their lobster chimichanga was good but not superb; the pollo relleno was definetely better. Overall, not your cheap/fast Chipotle or Roberto's; a lot more upscale
really nice. I haven't been to many happy hours in Gaslamp but I really enjoyed this place. The atmosphere was great when we were sitting outside and the prices were very descent! We ordered mojitos because I love them and we ordered tacos and mini nachos. They also give you all the chips and salsa you can eat...bonus! The tacos are cheaper than 2 dollar taco tuesdays! The tacos we not spicy at all which can be a good or bad thing... but just ask for salsa... our waitress was really nice. They have a huge inside and a tiny outside patio. I didn't look at the main menu but I'm sure it is pricey. Overall, I would give this place a shot especially for happy hour!
the best Mexican restaurants. One of the BEST if not the best Mexican restaurants I've ever been to!
