None Better! Yes, I said it!. Let's just say we flew from Hawaii, drove from LAX to San Diego specifically to eat at Blue Point! Well sort of, we were supposed to stay in Anaheim for 3 nights but only stayed 2 nights. We spent the day driving, sleeping in San Diego, ate dinner, slept and went to Anaheim. So sort of...

I think what makes the Blue Point so special is the flavors and the techniques exhibited by Chef Jonathan Hale and his staff. I say techniques because of the perfection of the fish as well as their steaks. My first visit in April during a business trip I ordered the NY steak and had to remind myself it wasn't a filet. It was tender and done to perfection. This time we had fresh oysters, shrimp cocktail, soup, halibut and ribeye. Everything was superb! The flavors were distinct in every dish with a "WoW" factor in every bite.

Let me also mention that on both occasions the wait staff was incredible with great advice and answers to our questions. They made the experience so much enjoyable. Getting back to Jonathan, we had a chance to meet him as he was walking by and let me just say that he is truly a gentleman and very approachable. He truly makes this a special restaurant that we will frequent anytime we are in CA. I told him to open one in HI!

Awesome!. Went to Blue Point last night and it was AMAZING! Our server, Justin ( I think that's his name) made the already fantastic atmosphere and food even better! He recommended a great bottle of wine (Cyrus), helped us narrow down the entrees to scallops for myself and the sea bass for my boyfriend and both dishes were beyond tasty and cooked to absolute perfection. When it came time to choose a dessert, we went with two since they both sounded so good-he lemon pave and the vanilla ricotta cheesecake. It was the perfect meal and the service was impeccable. Our server was friendly and personal without being annoying and attentive without lingering. I've read the reviews that say it's pricey but you know that going in and as for the reviewer who wrote that it's all ambience rather than food in SD, she should come down to LA to realize she's got a lot to be thankful for in SD. I've lived in LA for two years and Blue has been my best dining experience. Now, if only they could open one down here!

Tasty but pricey. Ate here on a Friday night recently and we ended up sitting at the Oyster bar to avoid a long wait for a table. The staff was very friendly and worked hard to take care of us. Food was good, but a little $$$. Wine list was extensive and had several by the glass choices. Overall we had a good time.

Average food for the price. I don't know what the big deal is about this restaurant, or any others in the Gaslamp district. I've been told how great this place is, especially the seafood. We got halibut and swordfish. Both were dry and covered with sauces to hide it. A great fish doesn't need much if it's cooked right. They were both @ $30. We realized why we rarely eat out in SD. I think people here perfer ambiance over good food.

Gaslamp destination serves up surf and turf favorites and Mediterranean-inspired seafood creations in a relaxing, supper club atmosphere.. In Short
The Cohen Group's swanky seafood spot is by no means an eat-and-run establishment. Leisure is paramount in the dining room filled with high-back booths facing large windows with views of bustling Fifth Avenue. The renowned Dean Martin-style double martini, classic 1940's tunes and traditional oyster bar offerings complement the classic menu with popular lobster bisque or the house favorite, pan-seared Dayboat scallops with goat cheese and portobello ravioli.
