The Scene
The rustic decor and home-cooked aromas are striking upon first entrance to the warm dining room that harks back a family kitchen in the Italian countryside. The legendary Bussalacchi restaurateurs added small touches of elegance with subtle lighting, marbled table tops and an impeccably trained staff--the bulk of whom are related--to make this Italian institution suitable for any first date.
The Food
To start, the Caesar salad dressed tartly with lemon and anchovies is considered the house specialty for good reason, as is bruschetta dripping with garlic olive oil and fresh tomatoes. Classic gnocchi with tomato sauce and mozzarella is simple, unpretentious and equally as satisfying as the chef's signature chicken layered with prosciutto and eggplant. New dessert offerings pop up on occasion, but you'd be remiss not to indulge in their famous, smooth tiramisu for dessert and the best cappuccino in the neighborhood.

I have been there many times, and can not think of one time I was happy with the service. The food is great I enjoy it more then any other italian resturant. I went there about a week ago with my boyfriend and had the worst experience of my life. First we sat down and didnt get our drink orders for 15 minutes, we then got to order and recieved our salads 15 minutes after that. We are then patienetly waiting fo our food, and become very angrered as the time goes by, we didnt want to leave beacuse we paid 8 dollars for parking and it was 5 pm in little italy, so basically it would be impossible to even get a table somewhere else, we were trapped. We waited...waited... saw the owner talk to ever customer but us..she was very rude and did not approch us probaly because we are young. Which shouldnt be an excuse because we wouldnt be there unless we had money. Finally the waiter comes back with OUR CHECK. Mind you we didnt even get our entrees yet. By then i am ready to walk out the door and starve for the night. We yell at him and tell him "WE DIDNT EVEN EAT YET" he gets all frazzeld and we wait 5 more minutes and get our food, the waiter thinks it would be a nice gesture to give us a cannoli by then i wanted to kick him, we left unsatisfied. I will NEVER go there again. ever! food is very good SERVICE IS TERRIBLE. rethink if your hungry and on a time constrant.
