Editorial Review for Cendio – by Maren Dougherty
In Short
The restaurant and lounge's rich, vibrant decor is highlighted with Latin-based artifacts. The menu offers flavorful options all day. The pulled pork sandwiches and grilled cheese tortas are midday favorites. Dinner choices include spicy ancho-crusted scallops on chickpea cakes, mahi mahi wrapped in banana leaves and a cuban-style skirt steak. Unwind after-hours in Salon Cendio lounge, where you can find private booths and a live DJ.

The food is excellent. The paella is huge, loads of seafood, and more than enough for two people. The steak was also excellent. Great place for a first date. The service was a little slow and I recommend reservations on the weekends.
Pros: Food
Cons: Service is a bit slow

I was sad to see moondoggies close, but this place is cool and definitely makes up for it. They have a lot of cool events, and the food is really good. Spicy, kind of Cuban flavors, and really different than most places in La Jolla.
