Major Disappointment
by docrym
I arranged for my wife to receive a massage and facial for a Valentine's present and her experience was a disaster. She had to use a public restroom in a hallway in the middle of her treatment, had to eat a small yogurt/fruit dish she ordered at the reception area due to other guests being in the waiting area, could not take a shower after her massage, and had sweat dripped on her by her masseuse. To add insult to injury, she was then charged for the massage after I had already billed the package to my credit card. Oh yes, and she told she had to go back to the spa to get a validation coupon for parking, otherwise she would have to pay $26 to get her car. I will NEVER use this hotel or it's services in the future, and will advise all of my professional friends (I am a doctor, my wife is a pediatric nurse practitioner, and all of our friends are researchers, physicians, lawyers, etc) to stay away from this overhyped, overpriced failure of an establishment.
- Cons: Facility, Staff,
Great service and relaxation (Address is actually on B Street not 8)

The W hotel is known for its atmosphere and service so expect nothing less when you go to the Away Spa. It's a small spa boutique with a relaxation room with all the trimmings, tea, fruit, cucumber water and the services you'd expect from any spa such as facials, massage and body treatments. Products are great and atmosphere is comfortable. My hour and a half massage as well as the facial were amazing, professional and left me relaxed and rejuvenated. Management is quick to take care of things such as ordering lunch from a menu including champagne and food from Rice restaurant if you want to add that to your services. Very relaxing experience. Highly recommend.
- Pros: Relaxing, comfortable, great little getaway.
- Cons: Parking is always a pain downtown but they have valet in front as well as lots nearby.
