I have been on the road for six months now and I can never forget the experience that this place gave me. They have the most punctual cleaning crew there is.
Horrible Experience.
I am writing to request a refund for the nights we were charged for, but did not stay, at the Harbor View Inn and Suites in San Diego, CA. We made the reservation through an online hotel booking agency. At the time we made the reservation over the phone, I specifically asked if there was “on site free parking.” The booking representative said, “yes.” The room was to be an “upgrade” from the room originally reserved at another hotel because of an error in the booking. The first hotel was overbooked and there was no room when we arrived. It had a swimming pool and was a much nicer hotel. We would never have been at the Harbor View if it weren’t for the error. The first room was a 3 star, the Harbor View was 2 ½ stars. It may have been more expensive, but the room was NOT an upgrade as we had been promised.
We checked into the Harbor View Inn and Suites on July 27, 2011 at approximately 11:00 pm and checked out on July 28, 2011 at approximately 10 am. At the time of check-in we found there was no parking in the guest parking lot which provided fewer parking spaces than the number of hotel rooms. We were instructed by a hotel employee to park and unload our luggage on a very busy street about a block from the hotel. We discovered the next morning the parking space was a “no overnight parking spot.” The rental car we were driving had a large ding in the front driver’s door that wasn’t there the night before. The hotel parking lot was still full at the time we left the hotel.
We consider the lack of free on-site parking to be a breach of Hotelscom contract with us. Additionally, the hotel was not an upgrade as promised, did not provide advertised amenities, had a infestation of bugs and a bad smell.
We notified the hotel manager, the online hotel booking agency and our credit card company that we were checking out of the hotel early due to the misrepresentations and that we were requesting a refund. The hotel manager would not agree to the refund for the additional nights and she would not issue a receipt of any kind. The manager was very rude to us.
I have contacted two attorneys who have recommended we sue in small claims court if the dispute is not resolved otherwise. I also intend to contact the Better Business Bureau.

This hotel is in a great location. This hotel is in a great location. It's in the heart of Little Italy so there are lots of places to eat and there are a few good bars. There's a really great farmers market nearby every Saturday. Its a few blocks from the airport and walking distance to the bay. The gaslamp quarter is just a $5 cab ride away. We were looking for a hotel that was decent for a smart price., that had free parking, free wireless internet, and continental breakfast and that is exactly what we got.
