Editorial Review for The Tractor Room – by Rebecca Bamberger
In Short
A barn never looked so posh. The sister restaurant of Hillcrest's famed Hash House a Go Go makes an intimate, rafter-bearing house scream utter sophistication with cloaked velvet drapes, industrial lighting and walls donned with tractor tools. The Tractor Room brings robust portions of game meats and breakfast classics to patrons cozying up along the black bar or outside the elevated patio.

From the owners of Hash House a Go Go comes this cool new dining experience that is sure to surprise you the minute you walk in the door. If you were expecting overcrowded and loud, you'll be pleasantly surprised that this restaurant is a much more intamate dining experience. They have only a limited number of tables, perfectly spaced apart so you don't feel crowded in. The lighting is dim and romantic, and the staff are all very warm and inviting. We ate there on a Monday night, so it wasn't that busy, but there were still plenty of customers in the restaurant. We were seated immediately, and our food came out fairly quick, considering that it's all made to order, fresh. Even the corn bread is hot out of the oven, and is to DIE FOR!! All 3 of us tried something different. I had the NY Steak, my partner had the BBQ ribs, and our room mate had the meatloaf. Everything was DELICIOUS, cooked perfectly, and full of flavor. My partner even thought the ribs were better the Phil's (not my personal opinion, but to each their own). They were having happy hour specials on Pomaritas when we got there, so we enjoyed a few drinks with our meal. The pomarita is made just perfectly and I loved every sip! I highly recommend this place to anyone seeking a good ole' all American meal! The prices are a bit steep, but I would rather go here then Ruth Chris or Donovans, so that is my level of comparison here.
Pros: Food, service, atmosphere, and even the bathroom is hip (and clean)!
Cons: Cost

This Hash House spin-off fails to deliver the quality food one would expect. While Hash House is often busy for breakfast, the dinner there is often overlooked and fantastic. For a place that prides itself on meat, my steak was not well charred, still somehow overcooked. The sides and salads were all very good, as was the burger a friend ordered. I'd certainly be willing to give them another try, but maybe with some direction when ordering, the wait-staff seemed a little under-prepared.
Pros: Cool atmosphere, nice drinks
Cons: Steak wasn't up to par, service was spotty
