I LOVE THIS PLACE. Being a heavy/larger gay man i am always hesitant to go to the baths . I started going to Vulcan about five months ago and I have never been dissapointed. The staff is super friendly, the premises are always very clean. There are men in all sizes and age ranges but most of all I ALWAYS find hot chubby chasers there. Big Boys, come on down if you want a great time.

Clean, Friendly, and depending on the night, Hot. The Vulcan is a 2-story bathhouse in downtown San Diego. There is a big screen TV room located downstairs to sit and chill and check out the new arrivals of "fresh meat". One must cross through this to get anywhere in the club from the front door. I've never seen a bathhouse cleaner than the Vulcan. Their attendants take great care and actually use brand name cleaning products rather than just wiping things down with a wet rag. The steamroom is closed for 6 hours a day from 4-10am for cleaning, and the jacuzzi is drained each day during the same time. The result is a fresh hot tub and one of the best steamrooms you'll ever experience. They play 3 different types of films simultaneously, but do not have TVs in the rooms. Rather, there are three separate public rooms where the films are shown; one with doors, one without, and another wide open in the middle of the gathering area on the second floor. All have stadium-type risers to sit and play on. One can definitely test one's exhibitionist level here! There is a playroom with bunk beds where you can find many guys playing and sleeping it off. The outdoor patio is very private and sunny. There are also tables and chairs with umbrellas to relax in the shade. Smoking is allowed out here, but not indoors. There are snack machines available too. The rooms are cheap, $17, and the lockers even cheaper, $14. Specials on Mon and Thurs $10 lockers. There is a 12 hour time limit to stay here. Located across the street from the San Diego Co. Administration Building, the clientele is diverse. The age range is between 30-60 something. Evenings between 6-midnight you can find a younger crowd mixed in. Overall, I've had plenty of hot encounters here. The place is small with no gym, but has a great vibe. Like any place, it's on or off, but mostly on. If you like more mature, less druggy, real men that aren't obsessed with the perfect body and want to have fun with no hang ups, this is the place.
